will the flood be in halo infinite?

We wont know until e3 2019 or later

They brought them back in ATN soo maybe? I know that’s just on the Ark, but perhaps we will be returning to the Ark in Infinite. Plus, the engine demo we got was on a Halo, possibly even Installation 07, which was a key location during the Forerunner-Flood War. Accidentally releasing the Flood on another installation might be a bit repetitive for the franchise, but it seems like there are a lot of people who would love to see that happen again anyway.

Halo Wars 2 had Flood. I see it coming back in Infinite.

I hope so. Installation 07 is a huge opportunity

I personally hope they are in it

I don’t know, many people say that the flood would over complicate things, but I think it would be very neat.

the flood will most likely be in it. Although I don’t like them that much, it would be interesting to see how they add new forms and whatnot.

Do you think.a grave mind will be in it

I don’t know much lore (thinking about buying the books soon) but I would certainly enjoy seeing the flood again.

Seeing as each installation had a collective of Flood for research across the Galaxy? Most likely. It seems wherever the UNSC or Covenant go that involves the Forerunners, suddenly the Flood is just everywhere (with the exception of Requiem and Genesis.)

To continue my last post, in HW2: ATN the Flood were attempting to rebuild the Gravemind on High Charity, which had been on Delta Halo for like 100k years. So there definitely could be one on Zeta Halo, or even the Gravemind from High Charity could make a return. Sadly, we have almost no information on Infinite at this point, so it’s all speculation.

Considering Zeta Halo has all but been confirmed, I feel like the Flood is really likely to at least make some sort of appearance. As the “birthplace” of the Primordial, and its relation to Mendicant Bias, I feel like the “undiscovered” Zeta Halo would be a perfect way to re-introduce the Flood, and possibly bring a new Logic Plague into play. The Logic Plague, in particular, would also be an interesting twist to the Created conflict, given the threat to both sides.

Either the UNSC and the Created could be forced to side against a common Flood foe, OR the Flood could maybe starting taking over the Created via the Logic Plague, and create an even larger threat to the galaxy. I feel like that would be a pretty engaging way to bring the “classic” Halo Flood arc back to the series, while still respecting the current plot put forward by H4/H5. And if they went with the later approach, it could also provide a good opportunity for 343 to both update some of the Flood enemy mechanics, and maybe rework some of the less-popular Forerunner enemy mechanics, as well. Two birds, one stone?

My feelings on the flood returning since 343 has taken over:

Before Halo 4: I’m not sure the flood would really make sense for this game. I’d rather they concentrate on the Forerunners/Prometheans.

Before Halo 5: You know what? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind seeing the flood come back. I hope they’re in Halo 5.

Now, before Halo Infinite: The flood better be in Halo Infinite or I’m going to be seriously pissed off.

I hope not.

Interesting, I haven’t heard someone voice an opinion against the Flood returning yet, though I’m sure there are plenty out there who agree with you. Could you elaborate on your reasons why?

The flood were an awesome part of Halo:CE. But in Halo 2 and 3 they were just over used. The vast majority of missions involve the flood and it just became repetitive really quickly. Also Halo 3’s story was supposed to be Master Chief “finishing the fight.” Even though Halo 3’s campaign is debatable it honestly comes down to did the chief actually finish the fight? I would argue no but that’s for a different topic. So if we are going under the assumption that Chief did indeed finish the fight then the flood should theoretically be completely dead.

Basically what i’m trying to say is that between repetitive missions and inconsistencies in Halo 3’s story line I would just rather assume that the flood is dead and continue on the path 343 has built in Halo 4 & 5.

The cave writing in the E3 2018 trailer has been translated to “Enemy Within” so I would think that the flood would be in the Halo Infinite campaign

That’s a fair point to make. I just have always seen the Flood as the entire reason any of this occurred. Without them, the Halo Array would never have been built. Heck, even the Human-Forerunner War would never have happened since the Flood is what caused ancient humanity to glass Forerunner worlds.

I did find it odd that the Flood returned in HW2 because the whole point of H3 was to “Finish the Fight”, as you have pointed out. But I actually quite enjoyed fighting them throughout H2 and H3. In H4, I always felt like the Prometheans’ motivation wasn’t much more than a pre-programmed response to interlopers. In H5, their motivations seemed to shift somewhat, but it wasn’t really clear to me at first. Compare that to the Flood, who have several pretty thoroughly discussed motivations that span thousands of years.

I hope so. Installation 07 was a key location during the Forerunner-Flood War, but you could consider the Created as an “enemy within” since they originate from humanity.
