They will return, hopefully in this game because its about time for them to return already but sooner or later I’m 100% certain that they will be back and I agree about them having a great backstory but it was never explained properly or not explained at all in the first trilogy. I thought the Prometheans were great but the flood still remains my favorite villain in the franchise.

Ha, agreed! I really want to see what 343 can pull out the bag this time, and you never know! There might be new types of enemies that we have never fought before!

Yeah, the Gravemind in Halo 2 explained that the Flood never forgets what happened so long as they exist. So that means that every Gravemind is basically the same.

i’ve hated them…been so happy that 4 didn’t feature them.
i’d rather like to see a new enemy…a really new enemy,
not some forerunner-promethean-precursor-sh#t.
I look forward to hopefully seeing them in the next Halos and just imagining how disturbing they will look with Halo 4’s graphics/cutscenes. It would really warm my heart to see those parasites again.

Like what? Something completely new to the Halo universe that nobody is aware of? I don’t see that as a good thing for the fan base with the current condition of Halo :-/

Especially, if they come out the blue. Also if 343i doesn’t really explain their back story and are just here for variety’s sake. Smells like a Promethean.

Possibly. However, flood could of been released by anybody on any Installation.
We’ll probably get flood with one shot incineration cannons and overpowered thruster packs. That said, it would be cool to go to Installation 07. It would be a flood wasteland and 343 would do a great job with the decaying world and possibly the reactivation of one the grave minds there.
