Flood in Halo 4?

I know topics have been made before regarding the flood in Halo 4 but I just want to ask, do you wan’t to see them? There is still a lot of history about them that hasn’t been told yet. …But I hate them to death. They are not even fun to fight imo. Especially in Halo 2-god they were annoying!

So what do you think?

i really really really hope not…but all evidence sadly hints that they will be in Halo 4

Let me put it this way. If the Precursors play any roll in the new trilogy, the Flood will most definitely return.

Just because they weren’t fun in past games (which I thought they were), that doesn’t mean that they won’t be this time around. The Flood are very adaptable and can come in many different forms. What we’ve seen of them before is but a small fraction of the Flood as a whole.

A factor to my enjoyment for Halo was that I got a mix of fighting against aliens and a zombie like race. I do hope Flood return.

hard for me to imagine halo without flood.
mix zombies and halo and you get one happy reyaweks, I hope there is some really innovative flood stuff, like the flood bats from HW.

<3 flood

I like the Flood, they helped mix gameplay up a bit and when they were first introduced, it created one of the most memorable moments in a video game for me. So I’d be glad to see them in Halo 4. The only thing I hope stays out is an all Flood level, I just did not enjoy the Library or the Cortana level. I mean those two levels made me really miss the Covenant so much, right after I finished the Library and started Two Betrayals, I wanted so badly to run up and hug the first Grunt I saw. -Yoink- tried to stick me with a grenade though.

I miss the Flood. Sometimes they are a pain to fight, but the are the darker enemy in Halo. They make the Covenant look ridiculous.

To be honest, I hope the flood don’t return UNLESS they are revamped in a way.

I only enjoyed them in CE and didn’t mind them too much in H2 but they were just a side note for me in H3. I enjoyed them in CE because they added a whole new dark atmosphere and somewhat had the same effect in H2 but they completely lacked that in H3… so unless they have the same effect in H4 like in CE, I don’t want them.

I don’t get why people don’t like the Flood. They were pretty boring in Halo CE, sure. But in Halo 2 and 3 they expanded on them alot. Well, not so much expanded on the Flood in Halo 2, as made them alot more fun to fight, with better AI behaviors.

> Just because they weren’t fun in past games (which I thought they were), that doesn’t mean that they won’t be this time around. The Flood are very adaptable and can come in many different forms. What we’ve seen of them before is but a small fraction of the Flood as a whole.

In H1, it was fun to run away from them. Assembling huge masses of them or making Flood buddies was also entertaining. Fighting them was ok due to how every weapon could kill.

And of course, the spooky atmosphere and gurgles. In H3, all we hear is screeching. I miss the Flood gurgles.

Rocket launcher Flood weren’t as bad as they were in H2 (homing rocket launchers). People get pwned by the rocket launcher Flood during the tunnel part on Two Betrayals because being in the Banshee gives away their position. If you go on foot with a shotty or pistol, rocket launcher, and grenades, that part isn’t so difficult.

In H2, not so fun. Fighting them was out of the question. Running away from them was terrifying. The fear factor was alright, but it was really false difficulty.

In H3, messing with them is indeed entertaining. But fighting them gets boring since they’re so easily destroyed. And there’s nothing scary about them (aside from flying Tank Forms and super jumping Carrier Forms).

If Halo 4 has Flood, I’d like to see:

-fast Flood, but not as fast as they were in H2

-fast Carrier Forms. They’re so pathetic now

-revamped Tank Form. They’re just damage sponges. I always used the brute shot’s blade or sword against them because shooting them was worthless. Tank Forms should be known for their use of tactics. I say this because of an event I witnessed (here’s the film). There are 2 Tank Forms on the 2nd bridge on The Covenant and one of them launches the other one across the bridge and he miraculously ends up landing on a Brute bodyguard, after which he regurgitates Infection Forms then engages the Chieftain in battle. Of course, it was very flawed: the Tank Form didn’t prioritize on the bodyguards by meleeing them first so the infection forms were pointless because the bodyguards still had their power armor

-more Pure Forms. There were 3 cut out ones and I would have liked to see them

-stealthy Flood. That’s the #1 problem with Flood. They just aren’t stealthy. Ambushes are often scripted or easy to anticipate or avoid. Which brings me to my next suggestion.

Half Flood.

  1. Flood can choose to infect
  2. it is possible for an infected to retain consciousness (Jenkins) if he’s not killed by the Flood

So how about Flood using sleeper agents? How interesting it would be for a marine to suddenly go berserk and start shooting the other marines and at the same time, Flood descending upon the marines. Floodgate was the perfect opportunity for this but instead, all we got was slow infections and marines starting to show signs of infection for no reason. The Flood infection forms jumping on that 1 marine. That was kick–Yoink- at the time of release but now it’s just decoration.

I hope the flood do return as they are a good enemy to break up all the covenant slaughtering.

I just hope they get introduced more like Halo:CE than Halo 2/3 where they just got thrown in willy nilly.

Except that, you know, there won’t be any Covenant slaughtering going on…

or will there o_0 factions of the covenant could be on the shield world too, and as all communication are blocked to and from the shield world, they wont know the war is over (just speculating :P)

FLOOD

I wouldn’t mind the Flood if they gave us new forms to fight. I’m sure the possibilities are endless, especially with the “dark new threat” being, presumably,infection-eligible.

Also, put the Juggernaut in the game, instead of having to mod to fight it. I’ve personally never fought one, but it sounds like fun.

I’m assuming taht they probably will be. Think about it, we haven’t thought tyhe Flood in a Halo FPS games since 2007. If they are Halo 4, I think 343i really needs to introduce some new variants. Perhaps the Flood can now infect animals and newer sapient species introduced in Halo 4; there’s also the possibility that 343i will include some new Flood pure forms.

But whatever they introduce for the Flood, I think 343i must also make it a priority that the Flood will be able to drive and ride vehicles again like the level Quarantine Zone in Halo 2. I’d also like to see the “infection” mechanic improve; I hated seeing Brute Chieftains being infected and turning into infected Brute Minor forms.

Well, given the “fact” that this trilogy will most likely focus on Forerunners, possibly even Precursors (given the focus 343i put on them in the Greg Bear books it seems likely they will play a role as well, maybe even a big one) I think it’s safe to say the chances of the Flood returning are bigger than that of the ex Covenant races returning (already).

Would I like to see them return? Sure.
But they need to be reworked. Yes, they should have the brainless combat forms. But include more diversity and make them as enjoyable to fight as the Covenant were. Make them apply some strategy as well.
There are tons of Flood forms already:

Spores
Infection forms
Carriers
Combat forms
Pure forms
Trasher forms (Wars)
Flood “bats” (Wars)
Flood bombers (Wars)

And then there are unused concepts, like a sort of Flood “walking vehicle”, the Juggernaut, Infector forms and then there are the countless variations shown in Legends (Origins). Do something with that. And make each form more unique, let them have their own strategies etc. Make them less dumbed down.

Also: DON’T MAKE THEM THE MAIN ENEMY!

Even if they’re upgraded and improved by 343i, they’re still basically space zombies. Yes, they’re part of Halo. But Halo never was solely about shooting space zombies.
Have them support a new pack of enemies. Have them be part of a larger army coming for us.

Those are the conditions that can make the Flood great to play against:
Variety in types
Variety in strategy
As part of a bigger army of non-Flood

Yes.

If there are flood in Halo 4 they don’t necessarily have to be the exact same forms in terms of AI, appearance and general opposing threat. I mean above all means, keep The Flood, The Flood, but Halo 4 is a new game, 343i is the new developer, the universe has progressed, this gives plenty of reasons for the flood to come back new, fresh and entertaining.
