It’s clear from the forerunner trilogy and from the events in Halo 4 that Halo 5 (and future stories) is going to have a lot to do with the Mantle of Responsibility. In the novel Primordium, the Didact and Chakas speak with the Primoridal (last Precursor) and he reveals to them that the Forerunners have failed their test, and that the Precursors have decided that humanity is to be tested by the flood to be proven worthy of the Mantle. This makes me wonder if the Flood are the “Guardians” (and will be returning to the story in Halo 5) referred to, as they are used test races for worthiness to assume the Mantle, or if there is another group of Precursors not yet revealed that are the guardians of the Mantle in some way? What do you guys think?
Flood want a re-match for who get’s the mantle? Bring it on
I think the Flood were accidently made by the precursors by them turning themselves into dust or pollen to gain immortality but it got corrupted/infected?
Yep it’s like I said in one of my earlier responses.
Lasky- “We were mice, hiding in the shadows. Hoping the giants would not see us. No more, humanity is no longer on the defense. We are the giants now.”
The Primordial- “Humans will once again rise up in arrogance and defiance. The Flood will return when they are ripe and bring them unity.”
They are coming and they are coming very soon.
I have a very good feeling the flood will indeed be in this game theyre for sure not done yet

I agree 100%, aidXcommando. Cool username by the way.
I also think the flood will make a come back in halo 5. While what form the flood will take I am not sure. I have a feeling it will involve The Spirit of Fire and give us a conclusion of what happened to the crew. I have feeling The spirit if Fire will either have something to do with Halo 5 or the TV show, either way we should be finally getting a conclusion to that story. plus may be way to introduce more back story on the flood.
AND MORE GRAVE MINDS.
Huh, that’s a rather interesting theory, I like it! It’s been a common theory that the Flood were going to return in Halo 5, but to create a link between them and the title Guardians is fascinating. I’m hoping to see this one pan out!

This is a very good set of quotes. I agree, the Flood will likely be back, for our test for the Mantle.
daaam daaaam daaaam (epic intro)… this OP is an awesome theory and I cannot wait to see what happens.
I don’t buy it given what the real purpose of the Flood is to bind all of creation in unity…a unity of pain and suffering.
Wow. Fantastic theory.

Yes it did.

I am pretty convinced that the term “Guardians” refers to MC, Locke and maybe other humans. The Flood/Precursors want to unite all life in one species under the dominace of pain and agony.
Wait a second, if I’m right the memories and knowledge of a gravemind gets passed on the next right? So does that mean that once a gravemind “dies” and a new one forms, is the gravemind just a revived/reincarnation of the last? That means the gravemind aren’t seperate in personality but The Primordial is the gravemind we fight in halo 1-3. This has had me thinking the past few days.

Aren’t they trying unite all species in the universe and take away their free will or something along those liness?

In what way do you think that MC and Locke are referred to as the “Guardians”? I’m not trying to be argumentative, I am just curious what your theory might be.
I am trying to help this thread get more traction to get people’s thoughts. Bump.
Anyone know what happened to the precursor trapped in the arena? Didn’t he get out and escape somehow? I seem to remember that being a thing and that he/it never being mentioned as to what happened to him. Or didn’t he take over the Ark? Why am I having a hard time remembering this?
