Flood, Gravemind, Didact

Question Containing Greg Bears 2nd Book, Bornsteller/Didact was infected by the Flood now its still unknown if the Didact is Really the Original or if he is the Bornsteller one! GuiltySpark was Bornstellers best Friend And Chief killed the Orb as far as we know! But Gulity Spark Highjacks a Unsc Ship and it becomes his new body whenever Oni was trying to get intel from his Rapidly failing Memory! Now getting to the Real Question Do you think the Gravemind died on the Ark Cause I think he might make a return soon somehow someway but the only difference is the Flood will be backed up by the Didact and his Promethans! it also states in the book that Guilty Spark and Bornsteller was confronted by the last precurrsor and what he said the flood chooses to infect a host or not and the flood was created to make every living thing in the universe the same everything would be controlled by a gravemind(s)!

Not trying to be rude, but get some sleep, man.

First of all, Bornstellar-Didact was never infected by the Flood. As for Chakas (the “343 Guilty Spark” that they found), was a different ancilla than the one killed by John. It’s believed that 343 Guilty Spark was created from this ancilla, but nothing has been proved as of now.

And yes, the Gravemind died on the Ark. However, there are multiple Proto-Graveminds out there on Installation 07, among many other possible places (such as other Halo rings), all which could become individual Graveminds.

As for the Didact and his Prometheans backing up the Flood… Why on Earth would they do that? The Prometheans seen in Halo 4 were specifically created to fight the Flood, which, as you may recall, were the destruction of all Forerunners. The Didact would never ever join or help the Flood.

While the Ur Didact was left on a flood infested world, his fate was left ambiguous and he is hinted to still be alive. The Bornstellar Didact is the one we see in the halo 4 game, hence his mutated form and is never infected by the flood.

Gravemind is most likely dead but it is unknown if there are other graveminds left. The Bornstellar Didact is the one with the Promethean’s and he hates the flood so most likely not the Promethean’s were created for the sole purpose of being the perfect warrior against the flood being immune from being changed… The Greater evil is most likely hinting at the precursors.

Also the flood’s goal is to achieve basically genetic unity and oneness, while the forerunner wished to maintain genetic diversity. And you learn that the Primordial or timeless one is actually a gravemind. So he is most likely if he is a precursor a heavily mutated one.

so many !´s in this post.

OP , lay off the coffee.

 1. Bornsteller-Didact was not inflected.
 2. It is likely the Ur-Didact in Halo 4 if that is what you are asking.

> GuiltySpark was Bornstellers best Friend

Guilty Spark was one of several fragments made from Chakas, ie a human acquaintance Bornsteller cared for. So they really aren’t the same person.

> And Chief killed the Orb as far as we know! But Gulity Spark Highjacks a Unsc Ship and it becomes his new body whenever Oni was trying to get intel from his Rapidly failing Memory!

Spark does not, Chakas does. Again, there is a difference.

> Now getting to the Real Question Do you think the Gravemind died on the Ark Cause I think he might make a return soon somehow someway but the only difference is the Flood will be backed up by the Didact and his Promethans!

 1. The Gravemind is not dead. The Halos did not kill it 100000 years ago, Chief blowing up High CHarity didn’t kill it and the Halo blowing up the Ark would not have.

 2. Response to the highlighted portion: No.

> it also states in the book that Guilty Spark and Bornsteller was confronted by the last precurrsor and what he said the flood chooses to infect a host or not and the flood was created to make every living thing in the universe the same everything would be controlled by a gravemind(s)!

No.-Yoinking!-.-Yoink-.

The original Didact, the one who Bornstellar got his brevet mutation from, died on an San Shyuum (The Prophets) world. A forerunner executed him but took Bornstellar, Chakas and Riser.

Nope, Silentium’s description shows that he is alive. The Master Builder just left him in a Flood-infected star system.
