The flood gametype in its current state is not balanced. The flood win every single game within around a minute for 2 primary reasons:
The flood thruster pack is overpowered.
When you shotgun a flood that is charging you and get a bulltrue you still die.
The Sword vs Shotgun system should function like it did in Halo 3, if the human manages to shotgun the flood before it’s sword lunge reaches him than the flood should die and the human should survive. Also, the thruster pack moves you so fast that if you thrust into someone and swing your sword you will trade 90% of the time even if the human shotguns you.
So the best way to improve the flood playlist would be to remove the thruster pack from the floods spawn loadout and fix the Shotgun Vs Sword system to where you won’t
trade if you get a bulltrue.
NOTE: 343 please consider making these changes as it would make the Flood gametype much more enjoyable for the Halo community.
The gametype has multiple bugs I’ve spawned with a AR, and anyone that joins in progress on the human side they show up red on the radar. I was killed by a guy with a DMR in the gametype when I was a human. -.-
The object of the game is to survive for the longest time possible, not rack up kills by being able to camp certain parts of the map. The thruster pack is about the only thing keeping the flood from being turned to pulp by weapons like the shotgun, especially in open spaces, which there is alot of.

Exactly, not to mention, Flood isn’t the gametype people go to for balanced competitive gameplay.
The point is (and I have noticed this too) that with the thruster pack the human have practically no chance except on the larger maps…I find their AA selection quite hilarious.
Let’s give the human a Hardlight shield when any melee attack goes through it. And give them Flood an ability that is meant for evasion but know that it will be used for rushing the hell out of the humans.
I’m not asking for true balance but I mean the zombies DO have shields now…taking out the thruster pack isn’t going to make things that much harder on them.
It’s not overpowered. It is that the Pistol is underpowered. It is virtually useless at requiring a minimum 4 shots to kill (and thus only having the option of using the shotgun on flying flood).
I completely agree with this. As it is, the Flood gametype grants little pleasure to either side. The Flood gametype is suppose to be like zombies, zombies do not thrust everywhere…
The purpose of the gametype is to survive, but no one survives when the flood just have to thrust into a fray of humans and go wild. Why not make the gametype more interesting.
1.) Decrease the default speed, jumping, & shields of the flood so that they are more slow moving/vulnerable like true flood(and, in turn, zombies).
2.) Take away the floods Thrust abilities. Give them Promethean Vision, Hologram, or Active Camo… After all, those are traits the flood seem to have… They seem to be able to know where you are no matter what(Promethean Vision), There seems to be twice as many as there really are(Hologram), and Some seem to come out of nowhere and kill you(Active Camo). Let only Alpha Flood have thrust… After all, only the most powerful Flood(Zombies) can move fast.
3.) Take away the humans infinite ammo so that they can’t camp out just anywhere, but instead have to go out and scavenge ammo like during an actual “flood”(zombie) apocalypse.
4.) Replace the Humans shield ability with Autosentry, something that will at least help them a little in trying to survive longer…
Afterall, even with all these, the flood would still be OP, the humans would still be turned with the single death, and the humans will eventually be overrun by shear numbers sooner or later.
Floods should definitely be nerfed. Nobody in their right minds says “Hey, let’s jump into a zombie game where the zombies always win and I have no chance of survival, just for the equal share of fun among people who suck at this game.”
Besides the the bugs that spawn you with DMR/AR and make zombies look like humans, the one where fellow zombies/humans turn the reticule red, i actually enjoy Flood over that derpy experience known as Living Dead.
At least in Flood, i am getting a Bulltrue and not being booted by getting a betrayal >.> That was so annoying in Reach, even more than Thruster Pack Flood.
I say keep Thruster Pack but not the way it is now. Tone it down to how it is in Campaign to give the Flood an advantage instead of instead cross mapping teleporting.

Only people that complained about balance because they suck/play like idiots when they’re zombies would prefer this infection with thruster packs.

No it isn’t. You can get four kills with it, which is perfect. There’s no reason that it needs to be more powerful so you can get 30 kills like you could in Reach. That’s just ridiculous.
I personally like it more from a matchmaking standpoint than the previous infection game types because I feel like I actually have a chance as the flood. In the other games if you spawned as a zombie you would just get raped and die 500 times.
