So, I’ve been thinking about how a flood faction would work. I think I’ve got it all figured out, now, so 343 doesn’t have to be original, they could just use my ideas!
In my Flood Faction, there would be three types of units:
—Light units:
-Infection forms, anti infantry, anti building(flamethrower/g-hammer brute equivalent), requires tech level 1
Can take control of enemy infantry
1 upgrade: Requires tech level 2. Unlocks Y ability(R on pc) that enables them to “garrison” in an enemy structure, and if garrisoned for long enough, will take control of that structure, granting you that structure’s benefits. If it’s a supply pad, you will gain supplies, if it’s a barracks, you can train Light units from that base. To stop them from taking the structure, they must be killed, so you would technically be shooting at the structure, yet it wouldn’t take damage, just the infection forms. If they take the structure, you will have to destroy it; there’s no taking it back now.
-Carrier form, anti infantry(suicide grunt equivalent), requires tech level 1
3 per unit. Can explode, damaging enemy units and releasing infection forms
1 upgrade: Requires tech level 1. Gains a jackal shield for increased health
-Stealth form(entire left page), anti infantry(sniper/elite equivalent), requires tech level 1
As the only pure form to carry weapons, this unit wields an RNG-chosen precision weapon, and has the ability to cloak(Y/R ability)
0 upgrades
-Thrasher form(as seen in Halo Wars), anti vehicle(hunter/cyclops equivalent), requires tech level 2
Faster than the Halo Wars variant, this unit thrashes(hence the name) units with its powerful arms
1 upgrade: Requires tech level 3. Unlocks Y ability, which enables this unit to pull a large boulder out of the ground, with which it can hurl at enemy units and buildings, inflicting massive damage
The Light unit types take the place of infantry from the barracks
–Heavy units:
-Transport Form/Sweeper(read entire Halo Nation article), support unit, technically a mini base, requires tech level 2
Up to 4 Light units can garrison in this unit for fast transport, as well as increasing armor for this unit. Automatically takes deceased infantry (both ally and enemy)and eats them, and if enough soldiers are eaten, this unit coughs up combat forms. Y ability causes this unit to eat any friendly units, a few seconds later coughing them up, fully healed. If not in combat, this unit performs the Y ability automatically

-Ranged form(as seen in H3), anti infantry, anti vehicle, can attack air(Kodiak/blisterback equivalent), requires tech level 2
Comes out of the base as an especially large stalker form that can morph into a immobile pure form that attacks all units in any nearby ally units’ sight ranges. When taking fire, this unit shields itself for more armor, but is unable to shoot back.
0 upgrades
-Infector form, anti vehicle, can attack infantry, requires tech level 2
Launches spores at vehicles, damaging them over time. Y ability launches a spore at a vehicle that, after a few seconds, takes control of it. Can attack with its claws if it has to come to CQC combat, though it isn’t very effective. Can self-regenerate.
1 upgrade: Requires tech level 3. Causes Y ability to have a wider radius, taking control of all vehicles in the radius
-Juggernaut, anti EVERYTHING(vulture equivalent, most likely better), requires tech level 3
Make Bungie regret scrapping this unit from H2. Uses its long arms to slap infantry, vehicle, and air units from far distances, and has a sight radius and attack range larger than most units. Y ability is a chain attack where this unit impales the ground, causing devastating tentacles to burst from the earth, attacking the unit closest to it. More tentacles then burst beneath the unit closest to the first one attacked, and so on, similar to the gremlin’s Y ability.
0 upgrades
Heavy units take the place of ground vehicles from the vehicle depot
–Air units:
-Swarms,(as seen in Halo Wars) anti vehicle(hornet/banshee equivalent), can attack other unit types, requires tech level 2
5 flood swarms per unit, these units fire rapid rounds that devastate vehicles
0 upgrades
-Bomber form,(as seen in Halo Wars) anti vehicle, anti infantry, requires tech level 3
Faster than the Halo Wars variant, this unit fires explosive spores that damage vehicles and release plasma infection forms, an infection form variant that explodes like a plasma grenade upon death, causing damage. This unit cannot attack air units.
-space for air unit ideas-
–Units available at the center base:
-Combat forms, can attack all unit types(marine/grunt equivalent)
A mix of marine, elite, and brute combat forms that all function like basic infantry
2 upgrades: 1: gives this unit a random chance to revive itself shortly after death, though the revived forms melee only(requires tech level 1) 2: one or two combat forms in a units are equipped with rocket launchers for use on all unit types, though most effective on air(requires tech level 2).
-Stalker form, anti infantry(jackrabbit/ghost/chopper equivalent)
Basic scout unit. Melee only.
2 upgrades: 1: faster unit speed. 2: gains a light shield.
All units have colored armor to match their team.
–Leader power ideas:
-Flood dispersal pods:
The flood variant of ODSTs
-Quake:
Within a square-shaped target, four massive tentacles will appear on each corner of the target, grab the ends of the square, and pull, crushing the earth beneath the square and causing a mini-earthquake. The initial ‘tentacles grabbing the ends of the square’ part causes a good amount of damage as well.
-Spore cloud:
Spawns 2+ spore clouds that fly over enemy infantry, and those exposed to it too long get infected.
-Flood launcher(as seen in Halo Wars):
Similar to the Turret Drop leader power, this causes a flood launcher to grow out of the ground and shoot all unit types. The flood launcher could also possibly be used as turrets for the base.
-Bombardment:
Lots of bomber forms fly over the designated area, raining plasma infection forms over all who are beneath them.
Feel free to add to any of my ideas, and if they’re good enough, I’ll add them into my initial post! Thank you all, and have a nice day!
