Flood dlc suggestions for halo wars 2.

Well first off how would flood get supplies and energy and what kind of units could they train that are purely flood because infecting troops seems op. Also leader or leaders, and leader abilities they don’t have a spirit of fire or an enduring conviction now do they. Also remember there is a flood spore on the spirit of fire still and remember flood can lay dormit for a long time I mean that flood spore could literally be sitting in a box somewhere or even a freaking supply closet! But besides that what kind of suggestions do you guys have?

I’d like to see a multiplayer only faction for the Flood, as to not interfere with the lore and story of the Halo universe.

I’d have no objection to a similar base building style army like the UNSC and Banished for competitive and balancing purposes.

Perhaps a Flood faction could have an infantry revival style ability? One that can revive dead troops? Maybe an ability similar to the sentinel swarm area ability, but with infection forms that are anti-infantry?

Remember, the Flood are capable of using the vehicles of other factions. They did this in Halo 2, so maybe some type of unit that has a hijacking ability similar to a Spartan?

Just a few ideas.

Those are good ideas but do you think there could be pure flood like the flood thrasher?

Im not sure it would really make sense to have multiple Flood leaders, the Gravemind is really the only one that would make sense. As far as leader abilities go, the Flood can capture enemy ships, so they could use a couple abilities from the UNSC and Banished if necessary. I can think of a few other examples. One ability could see the Flood mortaring a position with spores, damaging enemies and converting some of them into ally Flood combat forms. Another ability could see Flood controlled pelicans crash land into a designated location dropping off an army from the sky, faster then say it takes a pelican to smoothly land, a nod to Halo 2s Gravemind mission. Another offensive ability could see multiple Gravemind tentacles appearing in an area, similar to the one seen in the cutscene in Halo 3’s “The Covenant” mission, or the ones seen defending Flood NPC bases in Halo Wars 1, only more aggressive.

Your two resources should be biomatter and neural resources. Biomatter would be the supply correlate and neurological matter would be the power correlate. Dead bodies would be added to every multiplayer map, and other factions cannot interact with them. These bodies can be harvested by Flood ground units for flesh and neurological matter, as a correlate to supply crates and fuel cells. However the Flood should also be able to capture power nodes, and have that feed into their neural resource. The Flood should also have a small chance of retrieving resources from enemies they kill, and everything else would be balanced accordingly.

As for base building, I would like the base to look as close to an living organism as possible, as it would essentially serve as a node in the Gravemind neural network. I really like the idea of buildings looking like appendages or external organs of the organism in the center. The organ that collects neural resources should look reminiscent of a brain, although perhaps not too reminiscent for obvious reasons, but move similar to a heart or a pair of lungs although more subtle. I sort of envision the Biomass harvester as looking similar to a sarlacc pit from Star Wars, with lots of teeth and a biological valve blocking the lower sections, but with the flesh surrounding the teeth inside the mouth looking like gums with a horrible case of gingivitis. The “building” would be somewhat elevated as per the standard, but the silhouette would be flatter than most buildings. Periodically Flood pure forms would descend into the “mouth” carrying bodies and biological matter to be harvested and repurposed.

As far as units go, obviously combat forms would form the standard unit role, and carrier forms/ infection forms should probably be anti-infantry infantry. As far as other units are concerned they can use any combination of the pure flood forms used in Halo 3, Halo Wars 1, cut pure flood forms from previous games or entirely new pure Flood forms. I think there is a lot of room for creativity here.

I know this is all wishful thinking, but a man can dream can’t he?

Unless they intend on bringing the Flood back anyway, but you are right narrative constraints shouldn’t prevent the Flood from playing a role in the multiplayer.

I believe they addressed the flood in one of the comics.

They did there is a flood spore on the spirit of fire

lets also take into consideration the ballon flood, and they could use pre flood infested like infested marines, infested hunters etc that would be interesting using a mixture of convenant and UNSC. that could change peoples tactics. Im getting tired of everyone going so heavy on air.

Correct. But they resolved that story in another comic.

Flood was was on the SoF in one comic.

Flood resolved in another.

If flood where to happen it might just be multiplayer, I hope not but let’s talk about structures/structure names/looks and what types of defenses it should have and what drops off the base? And will we be hearing the gravemind yelling LOCAL UNITS! Because I want to hear that.

I would have liked to see this resolved in game instead. Maybe 343 isn’t ready to bring the Flood back yet. The Act Man did a great video on this on YouTube that you should check out. I don’t agree with every one of his points, but it’s a well thought out, constructive, and fun video.
