Flood/Covenant alliance on 'The Maw'

Think I’ll post this here. Apologies if this is the wrong section to post this topic in.

So on the level ‘The Maw’ on Halo CE, after leaving the cryo room, you pass through a series of maintenance corridors. Near the end, a Grunt runs past, pursued by a number of infection forms. Outside the maintenance corridors there is a long hallway with a Covenant Spec Ops team consisting of a couple of Elites, Grunts and a Hunter pair fighting against Sentinels. Familiar?

Now, here’s the curious part: at the beginning of this battle, there is a single human combat form fighting alongside the Covenant. He wields a plasma rifle and you never see him fighting the Covenant. Indeed, he spawns on the side that the Spec Ops team is on. You have to be kind of quick as he normally dies rather quickly to the Sentinels.

I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this. I’ve been aware of this since playing CE on the original Xbox. He’s also there on Halo: Anniversary and MCC. I can’t find any other threads mentioning him or indeed anything acknowledging his existence on the internet or YouTube. Wonder what causes him.

Responses will be much appreciated - I’ll be happy if it’s not just me being crazy xD

does it need to be on a certain difficulty?

I don’t think the difficulty matters. Would probably be easier to see him on easy or normal, though.

Just tested on easy and legendary, he appears on both difficulties.

I think the only way to get evidence is is to make sure that the flood has nothing to target other than the covenant to prove it or disprove it. I may take a look in the Maw.

I’m playing MCC right now, but he has appeared on CEA, as well as the original Xbox. I have just taken a clip of him while playing The Maw on easy - hope this works: http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/ArcticGhostXCV/video/28712943He spawns in the centre of the Covenant group and they show no hostility to him. They are all focused on killing me.

Interesting, I will have to investigate who this flood is.
