Flood Colors

One thing that really bothers me about Flood Mode is how all the humans are solid green. And it’s not even a pleasant shade of green, it’s like neon crayon green. I loved how in infection in Reach, players could keep their colors. It added to the personalization and distinction of each player, so you can easily tell who is who. It also adds to the zombie-theme, that these are a bunch of mismatched survivors trying to survive as long as they can. With same-color humans, it just seems like another team game. In Reach often times, as a zombie, you may notice one player doing very well, and want to target that specific player, or maybe you’re that specific player that wants everyone to know that you’re doing well. With the same colors, it’s near impossible to tell who is who. I don’t know if this is the final build, but since the game’s gone gold, and all gameplay is like this, I assume so. I think this is something that 343 should change in an update.

yeah i hope they change that. i want my own colors. also, whats up with the 10 player cap on the max number of players in Flood gametype? 12 was fine in reach…

Amen to that. A fun survival game type where I can use my personal colors is one of the main reasons as to why I played infection game type often.

While it would be probably asking a bit too much to have the parts of armor visible on the flood-infected Spartans to correspond to the player’s original color (Although not impossible, from what I can guess.), letting us use our personal colors is not only preferable, but a complete must given the emphasis on the “Our own personal Spartan career” they keep trying to sell us that have already cost us the option to play as a Sangheili. With a change like that, we should be able to play with our own colors as often as possible.

the only complaint I have about this mode

but heck we got many improvements that we wished for so I don’t really care

May not be like this when the game first launches but maybe it could be a easy fix for the future or in future DLC maps only? I would still be fine with that.

It’s a custom game options, forced color. It can be changed and/or turned off.

as far as i know, it’s still 12 in the flood gametype with 2 initial flood and 10 humans

So the demos are custom matches with forced colors turned on? I wonder if Matchmaking will have them off.

They said in one of the new gameplay that there will be 10 players.

That’s not known yet.

I would like to keep my own colors too. I would rather not be that ugly green.

Personally, I don’t mind the forced color. It makes you feel more like a team. Something about everyone running around in a different color, just makes you all feel like you are independent, as if it doesn’t matter if you survive as a whole, just as long as you are the last man standing. That’s not the goal. We are one against an incoming threat, taking us over 1 by 1. We need to band together to fight them off. Having 1 color gives that feeling.

I understand why you want your own color, and I’d be happy either way, but the forced color gives a sense of unity that is lacking when individual colors are present.

That’s my thoughts on it anyways, and may be why it is the way it is in the game.

no it says specifically in the video that the gametype is 10 players max. IGN says on their website that the gametype is 8 humans vs 2 flood. i hope they’ll change this later though

I don’t think I’ve ever seen teamwork on the human side. Everyone just sticks together because its the best camping spot. Zombies, on the other hand, seem to have to rely on teamwork.
