> > Think the night mission on ODST.
> > Its dark, the city lights are on and many are flickering as a light rain drizzles down. The clouds above aglow, reflecting the light below of dozens of fires dotting the ravaged city scape.
> > Civilians and soldiers alike running frantically here and there, desperate to escape to safty. Sporadic gun fire in the distance. The screams of innocents fill the warm night air as an ancient nightmare is set upon them, consuming and destroying all in its path.
> > You the player would be a S-IV recruit in a simulater to learn how to best combat a flood infestation in a sizable population center such as a city or an outpost somewhere. The Spartan would gain points for saving soldiers, evacuating Civilians, and killing flood forms.
> > As time progressed the difficulty would increase as the floods numbers increase. Making the player want to rush, but there would be enough content in the game to delay that. The more objectives you complete and people you save the higher your end score.
> > Maybe as in the night mission (could use a similar map to add complexity and decrease cost of production) it could be kind of open world to an extent. Big enough to where the player could still use vehicles such as goose’, hogs, and scorpions when needed as well as short range small aircraft such as falcons, hornets, ans wasps.

> Flood Firefight mode basically… with curious objectives. I’m picturing an interesting concept in execution. Oh, oh, I’m LOVING this.
> - So, a team of S-IVs (maximum of 6 or 8) are dispatched to help on evacuation from a simulation of Mombasa Streets with the atmosphere of Floodgate. S-IVs must work together cooperatively to save civilians. Covenant CCS battlecruisers would be found in the sky, belonging to the Swords of Sanghelios who would glass the surface to prevent further expansion. Maybe even the Shadow of Intent too. Spartans must reach the LZ before the time limit is exceeded, in which the SoS ships would glass that area. If the players fail, the area would be glassed nonetheless. Flood infestation must be stopped at all costs. - The map would be huge. A bit linear but with open areas for multiple choices of engagement, containing all sorts of power weapons, including REQ variants. Transition between sections would be done ODST-style: Opening the gate; - One section in particular could include a player piloting a Pelican and getting the civis from point A to point B. The section would be highly guarded by Flood forms (especially aerial) and hijacked AA batteries who would prioritize the Pelican (to avoid speedrunning) and they would be effective in destroying it. Other players are given Hornets, Wasps, etc, and even Banshees. These players simply have to destroy the hostile presence but still need to be careful as AA defenses would be effective against them. Players can hijack an AA defense and use them on them on the airborne Flood forms (very effective). Once the Pelican reaches point B, the player would lose control and your passengers would exit your vehicle. Players must then abandon their vehicles as they can’t go to the next section; - Another section could include a re-iteration of Data Hive. You’re forced to use the tunnels below and must protect the civilians with sharp awareness. An objective would include to scout the area, checking for Flood presence and ESPECIALLY infected oxygen; - Each section has an RNG objective that varies between: Holdout, Find Survivors, Destroy the Proto-Gravemind (once per game), Clear the Area, Assault (Destroy the closed powerless gate blocking your path), etc.; - Allies would be occasionally present, be it Marines, Police or Elites (rare) (The player could have be an Elite). They would aid in your evacuation efforts until they’re killed; - The LZ section would be holdout, where players must wait for the civilians to enter the evacuation vehicles (Pelicans, Phantoms, etc.) while the Flood attacks you with everything they have. If successful, players can see the vehicles flying at full speed away from the city, followed by the SoS ship glassing it.In any case, the Spartan Assault simulations is as close to a huge Flood infestation simulation as we can possibly get unless 343 considers in adding something like this or anything, really.
Thats pretty damn close to what i was going for, didnt think about adding Sangheili to the mix, would be a good addition!
It could be done like Objective firefight, but i think it would be to big for that the way its going. Maybe going as far as like Spartan Ops on H4. As someone who loves that kind of thing, Id want something a little more immersive, but it doesnt necessarily have to.
Wasnt the SoI lost in the battle of 00 when the flood came? Or was she just hurt pretty badly?
I remember her taking a pretty nasty hit but dont remember if we lost her…
Either way, i like where your heads at! Im still wanting to delve into more Flood based combat, to me it feels like we’ve only brushed against a good flood interaction outside of a few things.
Hell with this we could see some new Flood forms too!
