Flight Update - Great Communication 343!

The latest update from 343i, regarding feedback from the first Flight, is really solid info, it’s clear, concise and covers a lot of important ground with clarity, even handedness and honesty.

I’ve seen loads of posts about how bad 343i are at communicating, and while I don’t feel it’s particularly deserved, and more a case of typical internet apoplexy, there have been instances where better/clearer Comms would have avoided some of the drama.

This post, to me, is an example of it done right.

One of the big wins was covered so simply and quickly: progression.

In a few lines, they acknowledge the feedback and clarify that while matches won’t reward XP, there will be a rolling match participation reward in challenges.

Now. Is that the same thing as match XP? It might actually be better. Maybe.

But the point is, while we all stumble from time to time, 343 have definitely been trying, and this is a great example of good communication, done right in my opinion.

What’s the value of this post?

Almost nothing.

But the negative voices are often loudest, and while I have no intention of being blinkered in positivity, I think it’s important to throw out the positive when it’s suitable and deserved.

So thanks 343. The Flight was awesome, this feedback is great, I can’t wait for more of both

I agree. Hopefully my reply doesn’t veer too far off from your topic. It’s good to have criticism but people seem to get swept by emotion way too easily and jump on the negatron train at their earliest convenience. Adding to that, I think the influencers also need to check their emotions at the door as well.

Some great positives based on the feedback given.

As with everything there are things I liked which will unfortunately be changed as the mass don’t (radar, especially seeing what level people are on).

Great news about the damage, sound, HUD, AI, bots, outlines, auto sprint, etc etc. The way they have responded to the flight feedback is extremely positive. It is very reassuring that they will change and update the game over time to ensure the mass community is captured. I think Halo Infinite can perform extremely well with this approach.

Why good? Some big and important points have either not been discussed or moved to “something post launch”

No info or reasoning why coop is missing and if it will come with in 3 months (they never confirmed that).

No info about the missing aim assist. A bit of blah blah about dead zones and the Sniper but nothing of substance. Maybe remove aim assist completely and force cross play? /s

Nothing about the performance on the older consoles. Will they tone done the visual fidelity to reach 60 fps on the mp at least on the One X. Is it locked 30? Can we hope to get even a stable 30?..The Series X is still not greatly available and most of you did see what happened with the Halo Series X.

There were some great points though about the drop shield and some coming customization and accessibility options tough.

I’m extremely thankful that they’re taking the time to listen to feedback. Super hyped to see what they’ll do next.

Not at all, I totally agree.

There is a much, much broader conversation that could be had about people’s approach to things, and generally mellowing out a little.

But, as long as you have people, they’re gonna people.

The good news is most companies are big enough, and hairy enough to know them for what they are and not overly weight their negativity.

I would say it was good because, in the context on which it was based, it was clear, informative, and thorough.

If you’re looking at co-op/Forge, well that would be a different update, because that is not related to the Flight.

I’m not saying wanting more info on that stuff is wrong, but it’s not relevant to this update, which, I feel, was a very good update for the topic it was about.

A separate topic for that other stuff? Sure. Although I thought that the timeline for co-op and Forge was in fact confirmed?

As a great man once said, “you gotta balance it out, the good with the bad”.

I was fine with Flight radar, but different folks, different strokes!

Overall a nice update which covered most topics very well. Was surprised that they commented on the sniper/skewer but nothing about the heated aim assist debate.
Looking forward to the next flight!

For some people, I think it’s that they want to be told outright what they’re getting. They don’t want side information, they want the juicy details. For others, it’s a lack of understanding what the information they are getting is. They see the updates, but because some of it is new grounds stuff we have yet to experience, they don’t understand how it translates into the things we already know.

Anyone else I’m not sure what their deal is, some are outright acting like 343 hasn’t told us anything. But this last update was pretty clear about what it was about.

Great update, looking forward to more in the future and the next Halo Infinite test flight preview. Keep up the good work. 343i.

It was a good article, but I think they should have at least recognized the lack of physics and displacement when using the gravity hammer, and also how the skewer is firing invisible bolts that don’t pin Spartans to the walls.
