For Halo 4, which kind of HUD enhancement would you like to be included?
I personally desire the VISOR or an upgraded version of it because i think it does signifigantly more than the others and does it’s job signifigantly better.
What would you like to see in Halo 4? Do you have any ideas of your own regarding HUD features for dark encounters?
definitely the flashlight. Night vision doesn’t do anything, and VISR would probably ruin multiplayer. You can do a lot of things with the flashlight campaign-wise to create tension in darker areas.
Nothing gets me going like when I’m walking through a dark corridor and thne my light suddenly runs out, then I start to hear things, and when my light comes back on there’s Flood standing in front of me. Can’t beat that.
If anything in Halo 4 is going to change, it needs to be how we play campaign. Multiplayer should generally stay the same that we’re used although throw in something to shake things up a bit.
VISR is an ODST thing and I think it should stay that way. Here is what Halo 1 would’ve looked like with VISR.

Sorry for not making that clear, but i was talking only Campaign/Firefight like other Halos. And I agree it adds to the suspense and adventure, but it doesn’t really make sense, if ODSTs got an incredible VISOR feature and the most important Spartan in all Humanity only has a flashlight.

I go by what is better for the game, not which makes more sense. If we went by that logic then why doesn’t Chief have armor abilities like S-III’s do? And why doesn’t he go into every battle with a Tank while carrying a Spartan Laser?

Maybe prototype technology that was destroyed/abandonded on Reach.
> Maybe prototype technology that was destroyed/abandonded on Reach.
According to The Fall of Reach, Chief was on Reach on a consistent basis well before and all the way up to that battle so that tech easily could’ve ended up in his hands. The fact that they give it to a bunch of S-III’s over the highest-ranking S-II is beyond me.
> Maybe prototype technology that was destroyed/abandonded on Reach.
This argument has never made sense to me. There is simply no way that records of the technology used on Reach were not kept in one form or another at the UNSC headquarters on Earth.

Just about every franchise gets ruined when they try to go back in time to fill in backstory. It happened to Star Wars, now Halo. It’s best to just keep moving forward and continuing the story instead of trying to fill in blanks. Reach wasn’t even needed anyway as we already knew the backstory through the novels. There was nothing to gain from it, only lining itself up for criticism.

Regarding your first two sentences: I wholeheartedly agree and was going to add you to the very short list of people on these forums who seem to realise how superfluous is much (if not all) of the information 343 is currently adding to Halo’s lore.
Regarding your last two sentences: I changed my mind. Game canon takes precedence over book (or any extended universe) canon. Bungie can’t be expected to conform to a story outlined by an external author at a point in time when only a single Halo game had been released. The series changed irrevocably in the time between Halo and Reach. Ultimate faith should never be placed in the various media of the extended universe; they are a supplement to the games at best.

I to would like return of VISR. It is a combination of Night vision and flashlight.
