They don’t, so nobody plays those crucial roles. Capping strongholds and bases and taking flags are much more rewarding. I mean it makes your stats look horrible, getting a few kills and a few deaths. I mean like make the defender of the flag, flag driver, and stronghold and base defense more rewarding medals. Like make each of those medals give more req pts and the base defender doesn’t give you any score in WZ. Just do something to fix this. Also the goalies in grifball needs some love too
I love stronghold defending tbh. Especially in plaza when you stand back with the rail gun on yellow and just snipe down people going into mid or the stronghold at snipe spawn. Feels much more satisfying that going out and trying to cap strongholds

But what about those reqs? You get less reqs defending than you get attacking

Oh I didn’t even know so I never cared about it too lol. Have everything unlocked too anyways…
I’m going to tiptoe the “calling out” line here. If you’re offended by the following, let me know and I’ll delete it.
Youre doing it wrong. There shouldn’t be flag defenders or stronghold defenders. The fact that you have only qualified in arena once, a few months ago leads me to believe you may not play ranked arena much. Which is fine. I’m just saying the reason these tactics don’t get paid out much is because they’re I’ll-advised much of the time.

I agree with regards to CTF. If you’re playing defensive, you’re just giving the other team the advantage. If you’re inside your base, you’re setting up a situation in which you don’t gain anything by fighting them and if you lose, they have access to your flag. You need to keep the enemy team out of your base by being in theirs. I really wish the kids that think they’re being helpful by camping in your attic on Truth understood this.
Strongholds, on the other hand, is generally a very set-up oriented mode. There tend to be two ideal strongholds and a third that is more out of the way. You want the third when you’ve lost all three, but going for it other tends to flip the spawns in unfortunate ways. If your team is not aware enough not to make that rotation, it frequently results in losing the other two bases and giving the enemy team control of the map. This happens constantly in match-making. I would much rather have some stronghold defenders on my team than some idiots running around thinking they’re useful when they have 12 stronghold captures and we lose the game, because we didn’t have any map control at all.

I 100% agree with you on everything you said. I just think our terminology is different. I think of a defensive strongholds position as being in the capture zone, where I believe it’s more advantageous to perch outside of the zone so you can kill/ hurt enemies as they head towards the capture zone.
Well spoken post, Spartan.
