While I agree, I would be careful saying every Halo has had it.
Look at player collision. lol
Yeah, there is at least a short list of things that have been in every other game that are missing or substantially changed. 343 doesn’t hold a whole lot of value to “that’s the way it had always been.”
Having said that, I don’t take issue with changing long standing things so long as it makes an improvement. But the longer and richer the history, the harder it will be to get the player base on board.
Sprinting is less efficient than just juggling the flag like in legacy Halo games, it’s an …odd choice they made for this, not sure where I stand on the topic to be completely honest.
" (Pro-Tip: you can repulse the entire pile of power seeds)"
Eyes have been opened to yet another use of the repulsor I haven’t seen
To think I called the repulsor near useless on launch day.
People are so used to hitting/holding shift in other games, they sprint as soon as they have the flag putting them on radar. I’ve walked in grabbed the flag and walked behind enemy players (Only to a minute later get run over by an overzealous teammate
).
Yeah I was initially unimpressed until I started making discoveries, which is a fantastic part of the design.
Lemme take you back to the old H2 days and show you some flag bouncing.
The grappleshot gets all the love but IMO the repulsor is the most versatile and fun to use equipment!
Also regarding the OP - flag juggling opens up a huge skill gap - you should check out some of the videos online - it’s crazy!
lmfaoo you can easily see when the zoomers make the post.
You say it’s broken now, but I’ve seen people cap flags from enemy base to drop in like 15 seconds or something in Halo 3.
I think this is a more important point on the topic, if fkag juggling, literally telling everyone where you are to rusk faster return speed, is effectively faster than just sprinting with the flag, a move that also tells everyone where you are, why do anything other than flag juggle?
While being good at it is a talent the actual mechanic is extremely simple to adopt. Makes sprinting with the flag seem pointless.
Thanks for the repulse tip
Flag juggling has been in Halo since the start. It’s something the majority of players like, and it doesn’t make sense to restrict a player if they drop the flag and prevent them from using their weapons.
Tell me if I’m wrong.
But I don’t remember any flag juggling in Halo 4
People really struggle to flag juggle?
Really nothing to it
been doing it since h3. and no, it should stay in the game. these are the little things that force you to be competitive.
Yeah and they removed it for absolutely 0 reason. Wouldn’t surprise me if they removed flag juggling too.
They need the 1 hit kill flag back
this^^^
one hit kill with the flag is the way to go. I was a bit bummed out seeing my enemy’s shields drop instead of his body.
Yep, like no one asked for it. But I think it speaks to just how much they are wanting to ensure the game is new player friendly.
For all the people saying it’s been a thing since OG Halo, you’re right, but it’s actually much faster now then it was before if you’re doing it properly. Muuuuch.
That being said I don’t think it’s a huge issue, and as someone else said I don’t think there’s really a practical way to take it out anyway, so I don’t really think it’s something that can or should be “addressed”.
The main reason I don’t like flag juggling is just the constant “Flag has been captured. Flag has been dropped. Flag has been captured. Flag has been dropped.” announcement voice spam. Aside from that, it has the disadvantage of revealing your position so I don’t really mind it.
