Hey everyone, your pal SHADOWSTRIKE1 here.

Just thought I would let everyone know about the upcoming FLAG (Fight Like A Girl) Tournament coming up. FLAG is a series of tournaments and events that occurs annually around October/November where gamers can compete and play to raise money for Breast Cancer. This event has been going on since 2006 and is organized and hosted by Kari Toyama (The Don Wan) and Tasha Pettengill (Zoom Demon), along with help from their selection of Referees. Thanks to help of gamers all over the world, FLAG Tournament has raised tens of thousands of dollars towards breast cancer research.

I am here to let you know that FLAG Tournament 2012 is almost upon us! It has been pushed back from it’s normal October weekend date to November 16th-18th. The date was pushed back so that instead of it taking place on Reach, it can be played on Halo 4 as the first post-launch Halo 4 tournament!

Events
Right now, here are the slated events:

> 2v2 Tournament- $20 per team donation
>
> 4v4 Grifball Tournament- $40 per team donation
>
> Creativity Events- $10 per event donation
> Screenshot Contest
> Forge Contest
> Haloshop-a-thon
> Halo Fan Art Contest

If any of these seem like something that would strike you as something fun and enjoyable, hop on over the http://www.flagtournament.com/ and sign up! Spots are filling up quick, so be sure to secure your position in the bracket. If you are looking for teammates, feel free to post here stating so and perhaps you can meet some potential teammates and possible new friends.

Rules
Maps and Gametypes are currently being tested, evaluated, and tested even more to provide a solid experience for all. In the past, FLAG has aimed it’s gametypes to not mimic MLG, nor standard Matchmaking, but provide an excellent middle-ground between the two. Perhaps that is how things will go this year as well, but we’ll just have to see how things go. Other than that, the rules are pretty straightforward. Don’t be a jerk. Don’t trash talk other players. Don’t cuss and yell. Don’t complain and throw hissy fits. Be mature.

Aside from that, the FLAG Tournament staff is taking a large stand against cheating. If you are caught cheating in any way, including network manipulation (lag switches, host booting, etc), action will be taken against you. FLAG keeps records on people. Since they have been working closely with 343i in the past… well, if I were you, I’d make sure to stay on the “Good” list.

I’ve been competing for a few years now, and there hasn’t been any serious issues, largely in part from the staff’s ability to crack down on shady characters quickly.

Prizes
For those looking to compete, prizes have always been VERY impressive. With event sponsors such as 343 Industries, Microsoft, Bungie, and many other great companies, prizes such as Signed Posters, Xbox LIVE time cards, Limited Edition Xbox 360 Consoles, and many other great things were up for grabs for those who could claim them.

Prizes have yet to be announced for this year’s tournament.

Donations
If competing is your thing, or perhaps you just can’t make it this year, but you still wish to help Finish The Fight against cancer, feel free to head on over to the Donations Page and make a donation. Every bit helps!

Conclusion
Breast cancer sucks, but together we can make a difference. What better way to help raise money than to play some Halo with friends?!? No matter what position you come in during the tournament, in the end, we all kicked cancer’s -Yoink-.

FFA Finalist last year, sad to see it’s not back.
Will hopefully come out again for 2vs2
