Flag dropping or not in default playlists?

As an attempt to gauge the communities opinion on this new superglued flag idea by 343, just vote whether you would prefer flag dropping or not in default playlists.

hummmm in tempted to say no as it just seems like its taking a step back and limiting player options, but then i think about people not playing objective and just trying to play slyer in game, and people stealing my flag when i drop it and getting my points,

well… i dont care, i dont vote, both are fine by me, they both have down sides and up sides

That’s a fair point, but thanks for posting anyways

Let’s take it one step at a time: I want it to be in the game in the first place. As of right now, it isn’t.

It’s already been determined that it friggin well needs to be an option.

I just want to know how many people like this new “feature” in the first place.

It is just silly to remove the ability to drop the flag. All it is going to do is cause more people to sit back and just slay because no one will want to touch the flag. It will also slow down the game since the only way you are going to cap is ideally perfect situations.

Definitely agree.

When I heard this I honestly thought it was a joke. Not being able to drop the flag in all ctf gametypes is absolutely absurd. I could understand if they wanted to add some variety and create a new variant of ctf, but instead they completely change one of the classic Halo gametypes.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and all that.

It doesn’t add options. It limits them.

Current options under this new change:

You can shoot a magnum while holding the flag

Old options:

You can drop the flag to shoot whatever weapon you want (more options than just magnum)
If you thought a flag cap wouldn’t work, you could drop it and run away to fight again.
You could juggle the flag (at least in H2/H3)
You could toss the flag out of the base so that they could not cap.
You could try to be sneaky as there was no waypoint over your head (there is one now)
You could drop the flag for team-mate to run (like if you had rockets)

Among others.

So basically, all they did was throw away a bunch of options we had before and condense them into holding a magnum.

No.

And yeah, more options = more depth and more creativity in strategy and general games.

Removing perfectly functional game mechanics only serves to hinder the gameplay in some form or another, and this one happens to be under the banner of “MOAR TEAMWORK”. Which, as anyone from a competitive background will know, is a bold faced lie.

So far this poll’s results have been pretty enlightening as to how much of the community is in acceptance of this change.

I think this new flag dropping stuff is gonna suck…

all i have to say is:

You’ll Never see me grab the flag Ever Again if I have any decent Power Weapons.

Precisely, and with so many new power weapons being introduced to Halo 4, the chances of a person having one is much greater and they’re not going to want to give it up. Even if they are given some credits.

I just saw a post by someone in a similar thread saying that it would make the game faster paced.

So giving you a -Yoink- weapon, putting a waypoint over your head, and not alowing you to defend yourself speed up gameplay how?

All that does is make it 3x harder to cap a flag. That means the games take longer and the pace is slower.

Where is there not an option for both?

We’re talking about default playlists.

The yes to having flag dropping option does not mean only having flag dropping ctf gametypes. This is just a response to there being no classic ctf gametypes with flag dropping at all.
