Here is a video from forger JesusinMalibu disscusing the issues that 343industries needs to address to fix the broken custom games and forge in the Master Chief Collection.
The community apriciates everything 343 has done to repair matchmaking, but now with the brunt of those issues resolved it seems fair that at least a bit more focus is put on resolving the issues with the rest of the game.

I would like to add our experience with custom games as well. I head up a group of more ‘seasoned’ (ok, read middle aged) gamers. We play every Tues and Thurs night for a couple of hours and all we play are custom games. We have all but given up on MCC due to these issues:
(Note that this list is covered in the link referenced above, so you are NOT the only ones experiencing these issues)
1 - Chat still doesn’t work
> When people join, some people can be heard, others can’t.
> When a game ends, people that could chat, now can’t.
> It seems to happen randomly
> Sometimes switching from ALL to MY TEAM a lot works…sometimes not.
> We must utilize the XBOX party chat system to survive at all…which, as you can imagine, spoils any team games.
> …and, why is it that when you’re on MY TEAM…and you play a FFA game, you can’t hear ANYONE unless you change your setting back to ALL?
2 - Games fail to load
> At least once a night, we start up a game, and it won’t load.
> I as the host end up getting kicked to the initial load screen, my friends end up in the lobby and we have to join back up.
> This happens to us EVERY NIGHT we play.
3 - Teams do not persist
> Once we decide on fair team lineups, they may change once the game starts.
> Or, if we make it to the game with the teams as we intended, when we return to the lobby…they are switched.
> This is a constant problem.
4 - Saved games come and go.
> I have created custom game types that our group has found to be competitive for us.
> Randomly throughout the night, my saved custom games will go away. Not available in the lobby, not listed in the file share.
> Then, after a game or two…suddenly they return!
We are DIE HARD Halo fans…we have loved the series since the very beginning. PLEASE acknowledge this and resolve these issues impacting custom games. I can’t imagine that there are not a ton of LAN parties impacted by these issues. I would be more than happy to share my experiences with anyone from 343. After all, it’s APRIL and we still don’t have a fully functioning game. We’re patient and most of us are in IT and understand situations like this and know that you are doing your best, but PLEASE help us out!!!
