OP:
Main issue/bug: Whenever I am in a fire team or a party with a friend, my game (and only my game) Lags very badly and I ultimately time-out and get booted. And not just a little rubber banding. We’re talking unplayable, people running into walls, not loading in, teleporting, SUPER lag. This happens both in multiplayer and in co-op. Rather infuriatingly, I’ve also been banned for leaving after the game boots me from match after match.
Details: So far this has occurred in 100% of multiplayer games in which I was in a fire team. This never happens when I play alone, and the game runs just fine (and it’s a great deal of fun too, shame I can’t enjoy it with friends). It seems to be made worse when I am in a party chat, often resulting in me never being able to join the game in the first place. It should be noted that I am having no issues in any other game. Also, If I am playing alone and join an Xbox Live party in the middle of a match, It will immediately start to lag and I will time out of the match. It seems to makes no difference who the party leader is or who the leader of the fire team is.
In order to both help this issue get resolved and help people who are having the same issue, in this post I will list everything I have tried in attempting to fix this issue. I will also list any information that I think could be relative to the problem.
Things I have tried:
Resetting the game - Resetting my xbox - Resetting my router - Uninstalling/reinstalling Halo - Clearing alternate MAC address - Clearing persistent data - Removing my account from my Xbox and re-adding it - Forwarding the following ports in my router: 53,80,88,500,3074,3544, and 4500 (all ports confirmed open) - Contacting Microsoft support (They just told me to do all the things above again and when it didn’t work they basically said “tough luck, go to 343 and complain”) - Extensive Googling - WhiningPossible related information:
NAT type: Open - Region: Southeastern US - ISP: Comcast Xfinity - connection speed: ~40mbps down ~10mbps up (I pay for quite a bit more than that butthat’sComcast for you) - latency: 70 - 100 ms - Packet loss: 0% - Connection type: usually wireless, but have been trying wired as well. There seems to be no difference in the super lag. - There are no other devices connected to my network while trying to play. - Playtime: several hours each day since launch. The problem appears to be getting worse each day. Possibly effected by player population and/or server congestion? - Favorite food: Sushi - Star sign: GeminiI hope this helps someone find a solution and that it can be resolved quickly. I’m really enjoying Halo 5 but it just isn’t any good if you cant play with friends and I am extremely disappointed. Hopefully it can be fixed before the return policy expires or I’m going to have to get a refund. I can’t afford to have $60 tied up in something that doesn’t work. If anyone has found a solution or can suggest anything else for me to try, please let me know.
Bump! This is the only support option available for the game (which is ridiculous) and I expect some kind of response. I’ll even settle for a “lol deal with it” from 343 at this point. Help please!
I have not been able to play multiplayer at all. After taking about 72 hours to download the game when I finally tried to access the multiplayer I was confronted on both the arena and warzone home screens with the message “could not find a server that was suitable for all members of your fire team”. When I go to click on the a game mode I see the message “ATTENTION (in big writing) could not find a server that was suitable for all members of your fire team”. I know I don’t have a very fast internet connection (2.8 mbs at its fastest) but this doesn’t stop me playing Battlefield hardline or Forza 6. I am not that smart when it comes to technology so if anybody has any recommendations on how I could fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried manually changing the DNS in your console to 8.8.8.8 and the secondary to 8.8.4.4? apparently that has solved some peoples issues. I personally haven’t yet have a chance to try it for myself. Also still waiting a response from 343.

That didn’t work either unfortunately. Also when I try to access the COOP I get the message “ATTENTION error retrieving data center connection quality information. Please try again later”. Do you see this?

Yeah I’ve had the same problem since the game came out and I know many people are having the same problem yet 343i isn’t responding to anyone. Hopefully they are trying to fix it.

That sucks. I’m able to play in a fire team now but even if I’m playing alone and I am in an Xbox live party chat, I get the super lag and the game just breaks down. It’s really weird. I wish 343i gave a damn.
[FIXED] This has to have been fixed on 343i’s side of things because everything works fine now (weeks later). Grateful that it works but very disappointed by the way all this has been handled by 343. I never did receive any responce from them. Won’t be buying anymore of their games.

I am happy you managed to sort it out. I still can’t play and I have given up expecting any response form 343i.
I am currently suffering from the left fireteam bug it has been happening now everyday but I can’t tell when it’s going to happen. I have tried resetting my xbox reloading my data resetting my router my nat type is open I’m running about 17mbs down and 2.5mbs up I have blue ridge digital cable internet and everything else runs fine I’m showing no errors on my side Internet wise. This issue has resulted in me being banned for now 3 days because I was kicked from a game for a “left fireteam” or “fireteam has changed”. Please look into this as I’m at my wits end and this is preventing me from playing with my team as I am an active competitive halo player.
