Its so boring getting into a vehicle knowing you will die in 10- 30 seconds no matter what you do. They need to have a lot more health against easy weapons. The slow projectile weapons are fine such as the ravanger and heatwave. those are fun anti vehicle weapons. The skewer is cool too. grenades, rockets fine. Basically anything that is challenging to use is fine. However, dont have them all on the map at once. The shock weapons dont fit the criteria of balance against vehicles. theyre too easy and ruin vehicle gameplay.
tanks are easy to hit with any weapon so only boarding it should the most effective at how you take it out or with another tank. the maps make it easy to get cllose to tanks so it should be fine.
vehicles need the abilityy to last minutes on the battllefield if you are good enough. If the worry is about snowball effects then put them on fast respawns so that the losing team can fight back. If there is still bad snowball effects then thats just a matchmaking or game mode problem.
a few side notes-
banshee bomb needs to be powerful llike the old bomb.
vehicles are too floaty, probably because they seem faster now so as soon as they hit a bump it takes off like a rocket. changing the weight might be a simple fix or make it slower again.
grapple jacks should onlly work from behind the vehicle, or make it so you splatter if the vehiclle is charging at you as you grapple towards it
Currently there are several problems that are more or less tied together and make the vehicle-combat experience worse in general.
Pelican Drops on BTB Maps will NEVER work on such small maps
I get the idea from 343 - they want to bring something new to the table, shake things up - but pelican drops on such small & cramped maps won’t work. Everyone sees the pelican coming (both teams) - everyone is rushing for the powerful vehicles.
Additionally to that, even though all 3 BTB Maps are open areas, you have a lot of cover. People are just camping behind rocks and have zero issues to grapple / EMP you.
Just yesterday I was able to hop in a scorpion on High Power and I had no chance to maneuver out of the situation - was emp’ed the moment I got into the vehicle & the vehicle was destroyed in about 10-15 seconds.
Vehicles have to spawn behind the base for both teams.
My last point: For the love of god, stop making BTB maps so cramped. H5 had the same issue. We have 3 maps that are more or less inspired by Valhalla, yet none of them has enough space for entertaining Vehicle combat. Make wider paths.
Don’t shy away from giving players more room to play - it won’t even make vehicles way more dominating - there are so many anti vehicle tools in the current sandbox. (Shock Weapons, Active Camo makes you disappear on the radar, Grapple, explosives, Rockets, Skewer, even the sniper destroys vehicles in 3 shots now)
The pelican drop feature can still be implemented in new game modes with way bigger maps (provided there are such new gamemodes in the future)
tanks should be pretty much indestructible from such petty tactics. If it was, you might actually get teammates that actually bother to defend it and would create some interesting gameplay where you have to take out the infantry around the tank before you board it.
also, boarding a tank is really bad since it does so little damage. i get it, the maps make it easy to board but the tank also fires nukes so i say its fair. it should be up to the rest of the team to pretect their tanks. Imagine fighting for a grappleshot in the middle of the map knowing it could decide whos tanks could get destroyed as the grapple shot makes it easier to jump on tanks.
how cool would it be having your ai say, enemy tank etc destroyed so that you know when to push right away before they get a new tank, vehicle.
halo probably needs a battleffield vehicle spawning system so that enemies cant steal your bases vehicles.
