FIX THE LAG!!

Dear 343i,

The new playlists, gametypes and upcoming weapon tuning are great and all, but WHAT’S THE POINT IN PLAYING IF THE SERVERS LAG SO BADLY THAT THE GAME IS UNPLAYABLE?!?!?!?!

I really, really want to keep playing Halo 4 war games, but I’m always forced to shut it off because of the LAG ISSUES(!!) and play other Halo games, and that is VERY DISAPPOINTING. Seems like if it’s not one thing with Halo 4, it’s something else that drives away the players.

FIX THE LAG ISSUE!!!

That is all…

There are no servers in the way you say it.
All Halo games on the Xbox 360 run on a peer to peer networking system, meaning one player is chosen to be host and the other clients (players) will send packets to that box for every action they do in-game.

If the client has a bad connection, then those packets will not be received by the host and obviously cause lag issues like you’ve mentioned.
The host can also have a bad connection and not receive the packets either resulting in more lag issues.

The only reason this happens a lot is because of how how the population is for Halo 4, the game only peaks at 30-40,000 these days which results in some funky matchups (I matched someone from Australia the other day and he was host).

Nothing can be done about it really other than hoping the games population increases with a variety of players from different locations.

AH!! I see… thank you for that info. It’s good to know how it works, but at the same time, it’s way sad. People need to start playing this game again!!
