The DMR is overpowered it feels as if it has a range of a sniper that can shoot faster and has no recoil. It also has almost no ridicule bloom at all. Because the DMR is so over powered its used all the time this makes the game really aggravating and dull at times. 343 PEOPLE WONT USE OTHER WEAPONS IF THE DMR IS THIS OVERPOWERED, FIX IT! This weapon is so out of balance with the other weapons in the game that people feel like they have to use it to do good in this game. Personally the DMR is making hate the game a little more each day.
Used it for the first time on a while today; I can feel a huge advantage while I play, DMR needs bloom like reach or magnetism and/or damage nerf.
Actually bloom was a horrible idea, the randomness of it, recoil is much better IMHO.
Anyway the only thing the DMR needs is magnetism/aim assist reduction and you’d find that the carbine/BR might be able to actually beat it!
The DMR has almost no recoil, has the same range as a sniper and is way to powerful
So the br and carbine has a huge disadvantage even if they lower the aim assist

Even in your situation they only have a disadvantage at long range. This is SUPPOSED to be the case, it is the way they were designed
take away magnetism and make ROF .25 slower.
also, i really with the Carbine had a 1-2 shot buff. i feel like i do nothing with it.
I hope 343 does something with DMR. Make it 6sk or reduce RoF to make its kill time more in line with BR and CC.
I just started using LightRifle and I love it. LR scoped makes DMR kids back down and I can go toe-to-toe with BR/CC. I would suggest moving to LR if 343 doesnt patch DMR(I don’t think they ever will) because its a good counter measure.
Now if they do nerf DMR some how that means LR scoped needs to be nerfed too. The overall imbalance in Halo 4 upsets me, not just DMR.

NO NO NO.
NO.
I guess I’d eventually come to accept a DMR power nerf (although a BR buff would work much better), but an increase in bloom is NOT acceptable.
We’ve gotten so far now, but the best way I see may be to just lessen the zoom and make it so the reticule doesn’t turn red every time you aim. Distance may be the biggest factor, aim assist incredibly high even with huge distances.
Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about the DMR anymore.
I started out using it on every class, then I switched to the LightRifle for a little, and now I use the BR.
And guess what? I wreck people using the DMR with the BR. I still feel it is a little over powered, but I guess I’m good enough with the BR to beat it.
To be truthfull, i can wreck most DMRists with a br, as long as they are in range for hip fire. Any farther, and the recoil and flinch kill me.

Yes, he did state that, but refer to the on-field review.
The DMR, although designated to be only a long range marksman’s rifle and not essentially effective at closer ranges, still effectively eliminates targets from close, medium, and long range with ease. Why? Low recoil, lots of bullet magnetism and aim assist, and almost zero bloom. As you can see, the inner circle (the one that blooms outward) does not extend past the outer circle. In Halo Reach, it does. In Halo 4, the outer circle is generally small and the bloom circle even smaller. And it doesn’t extend past the outer circle.
Also, I understand that it is a Designated Marksman Rifle, optimized for long range use, but the range is that of the sniper rifle. With it’s rate of fire, almost zero bloom, and wicked range, if you peck a sniper long enough with DMR shots you can easily out shoot a sniper, IN IT’S ENGAGEMENT TERRITORY! I say when firing at extreme ranges, it does little to no damage or the bullet strays below the target, missing, to keep it from making itself dominant in sniper rifle territory.
My fix would be to decrease magnetism and aim assist (of course), decrease the RoF, and increase the bloom per shot to where it extends past the outer circle.
Didnt like it much in reach, dont like it much in halo 4. The long range niche should be reserved for the sniper rifles. Mid-short range weapons are fine to spawn with, but allowing players to spawn with a long range weapon is essentially throwing a wrench into weapon balance.
I really don’t see what’s wrong with the DMR it’s just fine the way it is.

It depends how the mechanics are used for Bloom. REACH Bloom sucked because it was random.
If you had Bloom where the bullet only landed on the outer edge of the reticule then bloom would work. Pacing your shots would be precise and spamming the chances of getting that lucky head shot from a fully bloomed shot would be impossible. You may shoot them in the leg or foot if lucky.
Bloom can work in randomness is taken out.
There is a great video on Bloom on You tube, look it up. If they did that for REACH, there would had been few complaints about bloom.
> I really don’t see what’s wrong with the DMR it’s just fine the way it is.
Let’s see:
- High damage
- High ROF
- High bullet magnetism
- No spread
- No exiting out of scope when hit
Well, guess you’re right, doesn’t look like anything’s wrong with it.
I still have faith that 343 will ROF Nerf the DMR.
Yeah the DMR is a real problem… Fix that though and the game is great in my eyes.
