I play matchmaking all the time and I don’t know how many times I get teammates that betray me over a sniper or vehicle. There are times I get betrayed twice and I don’t get the option to boot this teammate but yet if I betray a teammate twice they get a option to boot me. The betraying/booting system really is unfair and needs some tweaks.
Thank you 343 Industries!
The betrayal system has been horridly weighted in Reach since Day One. And I’ll agree - it needs sorting out, but I highly doubt it’s an issue that’s going to be resolved at all, let alone resolved before Halo 4’s release.
This is never going to change especially with 343 at the helm, but…
Players should not have the option to boot other players because they betrayed them. The only reasonable and fair solution would be a voting one. Members of the betrayers team should see a small text message across the top of the screen and then be allowed to cast there vote. The betrayer would then be booted should the majority of the team vote for it. A system like this would put an instant stop to to all the -Yoink- bags who betray people for power weapons and accidental betrayals would rarely result in being booted.
Funny, I swear I have seen this somewhere… Oh that’s right! Most PC games that have friendly fire include a voting system similar to the one I described for betrayals. Anywho we can all wish in one hand and $hit in the other cause it aint gonna happen.

You don’t think that can be abused?
If I am in a party of 3 in 4v4 Matchmaking and I decide I want to be a typical -Yoink–bag and continue to betray the 4th random on my team…pretty sure your voting system wouldn’t work since my two other friends that I am grouped up with could just continue to vote “no, don’t boot” and allow me to continue betraying.
I don’t see a real fix to the system. It would be incredibly hard to get a working algorithm into the game to scan for something like an intentional betrayal or an accidental one. If you really want to solve this…just turn off friendly fire. Seems to be the only working solution. I’m sure not many people would complain about it…
Its halo 2s boot system actually.
It averages your betrayals over many games, so if youre getting booted often that means you consistently betray people for whatever reason. You can get booted after one betrayal in this instance.
Someone who never betrays can get up to like 4 betrayals in a game before getting booted.
tl;dr people complaining the loudest about the system are the worst betrayers.

I’d really like to see your sources on that argument as that sounds very skeptical. I only betray kids who betray me and I have been booted after one kill before.
I think retaliatory betrayals should be allowed. As the above poster I used to get kicked out first kill and apart from very rare accidental splatters I only ever kill people who betray me first.
The only explanation I can think of is my friend always betrays people when he comes to play on my Xbox, so maybe it punishes the host.
I also think if you betray someone the ammo on their gun should disappear or go down to one bullet that needs reloading.
