Your right it has been highlighted many times before and it has also been continually neglected since the launch of CE: Anniversary back in November. Its a clear cut case of shear laziness on the behalf of 343, it would take them seconds to fix in forge mode, and I for one will no longer stand for it and will continue to post in these forums ensuring that a thread highlighting this issue is on Page 1 EVERYDAY from now on until it is addressed.

How could you possible assume this? It was broken at launch. Let’s count the months…

I’m on your side on this. It really shouldn’t have taken this long to address the issue. As far as I’m aware, it was first highlighted back in November and the actual cause of the spawning issues was even identified back then (one unlabeled, neutral respawn zone).

The reason I highlighted that thread is because it’s a much more constructive and explanatory proposal, even including details of the modified map file, with all spawning issues addressed. Noooooch didn’t just jump on here and whine about the issue. He identified it and then went about fixing it himself, before highlighting it on here and on other community boards, for everyone (including 343i) to see.

I suggest that if you want to keep this issue highighted, then you post in that thread and keep it on the front page. My reasons for this should require no further explanation than that provided above.

I agree 100% on this.

Prisoner is a great map, but the spawns are probably the worst I have seen in a video game. Ever.

Once one team gets control of the upper levels of the map, there are only three places where the other team can spawn; the Overshield spawn, Red Team intial spawn area, and the level directly above the latter. If all three are covered, easy win for whoever has the top.

I’ve had people spawn behind me, in front of me (hehe), and hell, I even had a guest spawn right in the middle of me and my three friends at the Overshield spawn.

Yeah, Prisoner is a great map but it is ruined with terrible spawning. There is a neutral, unlabeled respawn zone that is resticting spawning to only a fourth of the map (red basement, red second floor and red OS) across all gametypes.

If players only took a look at this stray zone, saw the volume it occupies, and understood what it meant they would be pretty astounded. This stray zone breaks the map’s spawning and also lends itself to merciless spawn trapping if players know how to exploit it, many already do.

You know how Team Slayer has new maps? Or how Big Team got new heavy maps a few months ago? There’s no reason that this can’t happen with Anniversary playlists. There are many maps out there forged on the Anniversary maps and many of which are variants, like my Prison variant, that could possibly find their way into MM in one of the monthly updates.

Here’s to hoping that they fix this - ASAP. It’s six months and they haven’t bothered to even TRY and fix it.

I love Prisoner/Solitary, but the spawning is a joke.

Need I post more? This is a game/map breaking issue that needs to be and should have been addressed during the BETA testing during development by 343 employees. Why was 343 so quick to release a previous update for Anniversary FFA for removing zombies on High Noon (people camping top middle catwalk), but now continue to show neglect towards a very obvious flaw in the spawn positioning on Prisoner?

And the spawn killing will continue. Has 343 ever actually respond to a matchmaking thread? I’d like to see them at least acknowledge that there is a problem here.

Along with having the spawns fixed, I’d like to see a wider variety of Anniversary gametypes in FFA other than just Slayer, maybe include some Anniv. Oddball and KOTH to give a little more variety to us non AA lovers.

Most of your kills were spawn kills. This video clearly shows how easy it is to exploit Prisoner’s broken spawning across all gametypes, Team and FFA. Thanks Biohazard.

I’ve updated the map, again, and have made adjustments the ramps. They are no longer angled at 45 degrees. Other small arms weapons have also been slightly tweaked.

I’ve tested the map several times with different gametypes, both Team and FFA, and it there is no doubt that Prisoner can spawn players regardless of the gametype, but the version in MM simply does not because of the stray, unlabeled respawn zone.
