Dear 343
After several months of not playing, I decided to have a shot of halo 5 today.
I managed a total of three games, before i got a server error, And to my shock, A ban.
Under US law, it is your responsibility to minimize and prevent interruptions of service.
Either fix immediately or give me a full refund.
343i is not the place to go for a refund if you are dissatisfied with Halo 5. That would be whatever retailer you purchased the game from; only they can give you a refund. And that will be determined by whatever refund policy that retailer has. Typically, you get 30 days to return a product, and after that you can’t get a refund or exchange for any reason.
As for your “server disconnect” issue and ban: first of all, the official ban thread is located here, and all ban discussion needs to go there. Second, I looked at your history, and you had 1 DNF out of the 3 games played today (9/13). This DNF was likely not a issue with the Halo 5 server because several people did not disconnect in the game (most of the players finished the game). It looks more likely that people left for some reason or another. This doesn’t mean you quit necessarily, but it could suggest a communication problem between your console and Halo 5 servers. There are many reasons that could contribute to such a problem, with Halo 5 server downage being the least likely of them all. Here is a list of things to check when it comes to your connection to see if everything is hunky dory:
Current ISP
Up/down speeds (what your ISP says it should be and what speedtest says it actually is)
Ping & Packet loss (measure here, and note that you’ll need to update flash player and Java, and don’t use Chrome)
Latency with Microsoft Azure servers (probably where the Halo 5 servers are; you can check here, and you can also test up/down speeds to the Azure servers if you want)
