FIX MATCHMAKING!

You guys have done well with picking up the pieces of the Halo franchise, but the matchmaking is still a problem. Day after day, month after month, I am met with the same problem! I do not get to play very often, so the last time I played: my only win that day came from the other team having the same problems that I do. I don’t want to win like that. I want to play a full game. Today, I am being met with the problem again: first game… a guy is not playing. He quits about halfway through after the other team has killed him several times. Second game: I’m thrown onto a team where the score was 29-5 because my team didn’t know what button to shoot. How is this even close to being balanced?

Here’s my solution to fix this: find a way to go back to Halo 2 (or 3) matchmaking. Levels 1-50. I don’t mind this way that arena does it… I really don’t… but there should be a permanent rank of 1-50 (maybe reset it every 6 months) that keeps you in matchmaking with people around your level. You can keep doing the monthly resets; fine. But let there be one level rank that keeps going for an extended period of time.

find a team simple as that geez

I’m not going to create a team to play 2-3 games, and then have to go to work or school. That’s a waste of my time. No one should have to be concerned with being teamed with people that are nowhere near their skill level… and a random should not be constantly placed against full teams. Yes, I pointed out in another forum on Waypoint that the players are as much at fault as the developers; back on Halo 2 and Halo 3, you would run into people de-leveling, but from my experience in those days, it was not as common. Most people wanted to go up in rank. Now, it has become almost customary for people to enter matchmaking and ruin the game for everybody else. I have come up with a solution, and I guarantee I am not the only one who has mentioned this, that I believe would at least reduce the chances of people running into people that are not on their level; that solution is to bring back the Halo 2 and 3 ranks of 1-50, and allowing it be a more permanent setting. That way if you are a level 40, but the ranks have just reset: you would be matched against other 40’s, or people relatively close. It would work. It just has to be implemented.

The game has to be available for people who do not always have people online to run as a team, or don’t have time to run as a team. It cannot simply favor teams of four at every encounter: because another key issue is that I seem to run into a lot of teams of four facing me, when I’m solo queuing, and everyone on my team doesn’t seem to know each other.

I’ve been on both ends where I was on a full team, and we slaughtered randoms, and then I was a random facing full teams. It’s not fun on either end. At least not for me. I prefer to have a competitive game, that seems like it could go either way… I understand that it is impossible for that to happen every single time, and there are going to be games where people get blown out, but that’s just the way it is sometimes. But if people are constantly getting blown out, then there is an issue. This is not the NFL, or any professional sports league, where it is pre-determined what teams you are going to face and the Browns are just going to be killed by the Patriots, and we all know it. This is a video-game, where there should be a fair chance. And unfortunately, at least from my experience, I do not see people always getting that fair chance. Just by dumb luck, you would think that I would have one winning team every so often. It states that I have won more than I lost, but that is dropping rapidly because of my experience over the last month where it seems that everyone on my team is not too bright, or at least not at my skill level, and their lack is what is leading me to constantly being shot in the back.
