I live in NewZealand and can’t match make certain game types unless I’m in a fireteam with a friend from the USA or Australia. Obviously this is a problem my latency to America is around 170-180ms my kd on average during matches with them is anywhere from 0.2-1.8 if I play NewZealand local it’s between 1.0-2.8 even Australian servers playing with my friend from Sydney everything is fine and I don’t feel like lag is killing me. Why is NewZealand localised shouldn’t it just match make between NewZealand and Australia? I get 25-30ms to Australia my connection is 100mbps down and 20 up in real world use it floats between 65-108 and 6-23 but still a great connection for people like me I think playing with combined servers would be better as we would actually be able to find matches with the combined nz au population on halo 5.
Also my isp said unless they can get direct server routes or a more direct path to the US and European H5 servers they can’t do anything about the latency and what I was getting was good considering the distance suppose even fibre has its limits.
Is there anything I can do or any hope of a nz au matchmaking update as atm it’-Yoink!- or miss whether I want to play or not depending on how the latency is feeling.
I experience the same problems and have posted multiple times in a variety of different forums on this site.
The sad truth is that they ignore the problem and these posts don’t get answered by any of the 343 staff. There was a test conducted a few weeks ago where the geo location locks were lifted but that was only for a few hours.
They just don’t care
It’s been a week 343 common you almost had this fixed then screwed things again what gives
Called Microsoft did all trouble shooting they say isp is the issue. Isp goes through trouble shoot have a cone type Nat and good dns. My Nat type on xbox shows open I get 100mbps down 20 up as usual so the isp says uit’s a Microsoft or 343 issue and without direct server addresses they can’t speed things up from there end and 343 has no number to call just support threads here they never answer. Seriously over $300 brought the collectors edition have helped with req packs bought the HCS pack and others. I love this game just pisses me off when I’m promised dedicated servers but constantly get issues have yet to get a match in free for all that was playable and the rest of the time just can’t find one past month it just says can’t match. I get 170-180ms on xbox network tools guessing ping to the game server would be similar which the closest would be Australia at best so by dedicated in nz/au you meant one in Australian northern territory? I can ping anywhere in nz sub 50ms I go to auzzy sites majority 60-80ms maybe a couple spike at 120-130 but xbox I get 180 what gives is this your problem or there’s I’m sick of playing chase the rabbit and you’ve made the game so competitive that yes my huge ping matters now and is really -Yoink!- me off when I want to play with friends without crippling latency
