Hi, I’m zokhelafedehafheig, and I suffer from a rare form of claustrophobia, call it narrowfovophobia. Basically a narrow field of view in a game will make me feel disoriented, and paranoid from having to constantly shift my view to left or right to see if someone’s coming to backstab me from the sides… Now, according to my calculations, many, if not every player out there has this condition too, and most of them dont even know it!
No need to worry though folks, I have devised a plan to remedy our suffering!
343i needs to change the FOV in the Reach title update! Or better yet, give us a slider in the settings, so players could choose between something like 60-110 degrees of FOV, which ever better suits them…
I put together a video which you can use to diagnose yourself, and if you find yourself having narrowfovophobia; the video might also provide some immediate relief in the form of watching a side-by-side comparison of 70 and 100 degrees FOV in HaloPC. Just keep your eyes fixed on the 100 degrees.
TL:DR FOV too low, fix for Reach TU!

The option really is based on the weapon and how much the devs wants to show every particular one. So it really just has to be set into one that can apply well to all weapons.
I agree, but with widescreen more common now… is there really a need for it?
the field of view was actually INCREASED in reach from what it was in halo 3. this is why the decreased walking speed is less noticeable. with a higher field of view objects start to become stretched and it takes away from the immersion of the game because things don’t stretch out as you move around in real life. it’s fine the way it is.
I can relate to what you’re feeling. Sometimes i can be really paranoid and switch up my sensitivity to 10 and look around really fast behind corners or just to turn around. That’s only in my worst case. Doesn’t happen very often.
If this would be integrated into the game then it would have to be adjustable and not permanently changed. As well as custom layouts for people who feel that they can’t utilize the layouts the same way as others do.

Really? I notice the walking speed. Kills the game if you ask me.
