I’m not entirely sure if this is the correct area to post this, so I apologize in advance if this is an inappropriate thread.
Over the course of last month I had stockpiled several videos of gameplay on MCC Reach. The theater in MCC has a twelve file limit, but PC players can just copy and paste the .mov files into a non-MCC folder for storage. This worked well, but ever since the Raven Update all of my old theater files show up as “Corrupt File - File is corrupt and cannot be played. You can only remove it”. Games played after the update work just fine, and the old files themselves haven’t been changed. I won’t pretend to understand the technical aspects of the game, but clearly something changed or tweaked during the update has made the old files incompatible with the new theater.
My question is, is there a way to either modify the old files or download an older version of MCC so that I can view these clips? Am I just out of luck? Those clips have some strong personal value to me, and I’d hate for them to be permanently inaccessible.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding, but can’t you simply play the files in a video player like VLC?

I am having the same issue. When I try to access C:/users/myName/appData/LocalLow/MCC/Temporary/UserContent/Halo4/Movie and play a file, i get the error code 0xc00d36c4 saying “This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt.”. I have tried using a different media player and copying the files to another location to play them, but neither worked.
Currently having the same issue. Have you found a remedy yet? I’ve tried tinkering with the file code to no avail. I think the only way would be to uninstall the updates back to the version they worked on (not sure if it is possible to uninstall updates). Or find a pirated version of the game with the same build as when the clips were made. I’ll do some further investigation this weekend and report back if I find anything.
One thing you could try is to put the old .map files back into the game, launch with Easy Anti-Cheat off, and then see if they will run. Some, not much but some, stuff is saved in multiple files that are referenced when something is loaded. For example, if one theater clip was of Halo: Reach Breakpoint then you would need dlc_invasion.map and shared.map.
If the map files aren’t the cause then I don’t have a clue. Unfortunately this is a known byproduct of certain kinds of updates.

Look at the update from June 18, 2021 or search for the keyword “theater” to find it.

They are .mov files in name only. It’s an input-driven replay of the match. They aren’t video files.
