Five Things That 343 Could Easily Add to Halo 5.

1.) Custom Game Customization (Scoring):

First off, Halo 5 has some amazing customization options for game mechanics- being able to increase the radius of grenades, disabling various spartan abilities, and even being able to toggle the ability to regenerate shields while running is awesome. Despite this, the game is SORELY lacking in what I consider ‘friendly customization options’. In terms of what players can do to customize SCORING is exceedingly bland. Back in Halo Reach and Halo 4, you could customize how many points you got for near any sort of kill (headshots, sticky grenades, bonus points for sprees, assassinations). If they could bring back these sort of scoring customization options, it would be fantastic for the game.

2.) Custom Game Customization (Player Traits):

Secondly, there is the matter of custom player traits. If the game would allow us the same level of player trait customization as other games, (leader traits, underdog traits, ect.) this would be a fantastic change, that would further allow custom games to bloom. The game could also reintroduce the custom powerup option, which has been greatly missed in this game.

3.) Custom Game Customization (Loadouts):

I think the removal of loadouts from multiplayer was a great move… but for custom games, I think it would be amazing to see the game reintroduce loadouts for custom games. If they could allow us to toggle recharging shields while running, they should be able to reintroduce giving us the ability to make custom loadouts for custom games.
Also 343, if you apply this, PLEASE allow us to choose all the weapon augments for those weapons (IE, don’t just give us SMG for loadout, but the option to choose long-barrel, or silencer.).

4.) Weapon Augments with ALL Scopes:

With the tracer rounds, and the new CQB scope, we are seeing some amazing new options for our loadout weapons and I absolutely love them… except for the fact that they are available with every weapon in only one of the scopes… I want to see these weapon augments be available with every scope, from Recon to Sentinel. Please make this a thing 343, I love the new weapons, just not that they are limited to one scope unlike most every other weapon augment.

5.) Various Additional REQs:

Everyone is still looking for the ONI Wasp and that is easy to make.
Everyone wants dual wielding, so why not make a dual SMG that you are FORCED to use both of them, or drop both. And that’s an easy Halo 2 themed REQ to make. (IE, this would be a modified set of SMGs, so the kill speed wouldn’t be half the standard SMG’s speed. I figured people could understand this, but guess it needs to be clarified.)
There are other options as well, but everyone has there own ideas of what is the next thing that should be added… So I’ll just say adding more is still a great thing to see.

The ONI and Hannibal wasp are confirmed for a future update.

I’m guessing you meant COG when you said CQB? Anyway, are you saying the new scopes should be available with every attachment on loadout weapons? That would be neat but then there would be a LOT of different req cards to unlock, which wouldn’t be fun for people who don’t care about that scope. I think the whole idea of separately unlocking every possible combination of scopes and attachments is somewhat onerous, and could use some streamlining. And I say this without disagreeing that it would be cool to have every combination of scope and attachment.

I’ve said this in other threads but I’d rather see them take away stuff (ugly armors and duplicate visors) instead of add stuff, and of course streamline the loadout unlocking system like I mentioned. Then it would be easier for me to get more excited about them adding things. Not to mention all the people who are having issues because Halo 5 is somewhere around 90gb, adding things will only make that worse.

Also I agree with everything you said about custom games.

The aspect of this list is to discuss EASY things 343 can do to improve the game. As someone that plays with a community of players, the most enjoyable things in Halo tends to be the fun/random custom games, and while action sack bring a lot to that category, having the ability to make even more amazing gametypes that were available back in Halo Reach and Halo 4 would be a great boon to that audience, and and next to no cost for them.

As far a dual wielding in general, I agree with you that the MECHANIC of dual-wielding was a poor choice. What I’m talking about, is a weapon that ACTS like dual wielding. This means that Halo 2 Duo-SMG takes one weapon slot, and you cannot seperate those two SMG’s. In this regard, you are bringing the dual-wielding back but not as a mechanic, but as a singular weapon, that is balanced among the other weapons.

When they add the custom game browser I really hope they add many more custom game options too. Improving Theater would be nice too.

Oddball in matchmaking. This is my number one.

I would agree with you, if I knew that there was any one universal piece that the community just hated… the thing is everyone has their own tastes… so it’s tough to say anything. In terms of armors, I DO think being able to favorite (or bookmark) various armors, and have a personal ‘favorites list’ would be awesome… but as most people only have 1 set of armor they tend to use, it’s not a huge thing to apply (though a nice one!).

As far as the mechanic you recommend for weapon augments, I agree, but as I don’t think asking 343 to change the mechanic is something that I can win, I’ll simply ask them to have all weapon augments see the same access to scopes. Yes it will be annoying to unlock them all, but I still want it.

In terms of what I was discussing on dual-wielding, please look to the defense i have for it. I don’t like it as a mechanic, but I like it aesthetically as long as the game mechanics can find a way to apply it in a sane fashion.

Yeah, the stuff I’m asking for isn’t realistic at all :confused: A favorites list would be great, I think the customization UI could stand to be improved a lot.

And I wouldn’t be against having a dual-wielded req weapon, it might actually be cool. I just had to say I’m not one of those people who specifically wants dual wielding back. So I pretty much agree with you

I really wish they would allow the players to organize their loadout options on the in-game REQ screen so they can put their favorites at the front of the list… Pretty tired of scrolling over 10 BR variants to select the extra ammo BR every game I play.

Uhh no. That would be terrible.

2 SMGs would have a TTK of roughly half a second. Dual Wielding is a sandbox nightmare to balance, and should never return.

I really like the forge and custom games A LOT, I can’t say the same for Campaign or Warzone unfortunetly.

Most of your list is valid, or at the least understandable, but you are sorely misinformed if you think most people want dual wielding back. It sucked, and still sucks, and usually ends up debalancing weapons. If you are talking about forge only, then fine, it’s a good place to have goofy stuff. But I and thousands of others would be furious if dual wielding made itself back into pvp.

If you want dual wielding back in regular matchmaking, I can only see you desiring three outcomes:

  • Essentially an animation where it looks like you’re holding two smgs, but gameplay wise it’s the same as now, leading to it looking really buggy when you want to melee or throw grenades
  • Same as 1, but you can’t grenade or melee, giving you an absolute disadvantage
  • Want the entire weapon sandbox to be reconfigured to support dual wielding SMGs because people like the animation and don’t like grenades or melees. Halo 5 weapon balance is phenomenal, I’d be mad as hell if they changed it to accomodate some half–Yoinked!- quasi dual wielding function.Not trying to attack you, but wielding really is atrocious.
