Five minutes of forge and I quit.

I was an avid forger in Reach and 4. So the jump from there to here was frustrating. I went in to check out all the new objects and settings and was quickly deterred (then defeated) by the new control set up. Then I almost came here like countless others to complain, but gave it another shot first (edit:a much longer second try that leads me to the following points ). Granted I have the elite controller so I set up the buttons to my liking a little better, but overall you get used to the layout of things. It’s not ergonomic by any means, but they made use of it the best they could. Definitely not sold on the original use of A and B though haha. That being said, there’s a few (key) improvements that could be made.

Such as:
-instead of holding the d-pad button for delete (I realize they did this so that you don’t accidentally delete a group) if you only have one item it should be just a tap and then a hold for more than one. Simple fix.
-obviously a delete all/ delete all of type.
-when switching between the map/tool menu and the forge object menu it would be nice if you didn’t lose the spot where you were.
-simplified vs advanced forging mode. Quick layout vs fine tuning and detail. This would apply to the movement and rotating of objects so I won’t mention that.
-while I haven’t spent too much time using magnets and rotation snaps, they do seem off. But I’m sure with more time they will make sense. Maybe.
-and then of course there is missing objects, trait zones, and the likes. But that’s not a huge concern.

Just my thoughts on the whole thing. I’m sure I’m missing some things, but oh well. Forge is still amazing and the community will create great things in due time.

LOL
5 minutes and quit!!!

Look at this guy!

Seriously though, you can’t adjust to the controls in 5 minutes.
Forge for a couple hours then post your rant.

Lol you clearly missed the part about where I went back and tried it again, then continued to say how the controls made sense and just take time. Good reading on your part, guy.

Dude really? 5 MINUTES!

Agreed. Sorry your attention span and patience lasts for 5 minutes. Look at your grandparents-they probably hate computers or the latest Windows but, just like this post, we forgive their ignorance.

lol, did you even read the controls and try and get used to it…
obviously not, people these days are so lazy to learn something new.
this forge is amazing.

Nobody is reading that I went in and tried again, maybe I need to elaborate to you “title only” readers. Holy haha.

5 minutes?

You quit forge because you couldn’t figure out the controls in five minutes?

I could care less about the “classic” controls. They are doing allot of things new, but controls is way more precise than the other Halos.

My advice? Get used to them. I spent a few hours playing around in forge and I think I’m getting in the hang of it. I know there’s a learning curve but it’s your responsibility to learn the new controls. Forge has been revamped and with good reason, there are plenty of new features in forge, but the control scheme is ininsignificant compared to them.

So then your Title was more like click-bait? The title made it sound like you absolutely hate Forge and you’ve permanently given up on it after 5 minutes. Don’t be shocked when people respond with derision after that title.

Use it and abuse it. Headlines get attention, albeit not always from more than “flamers”.

Reporting everyone that disagrees with you is a good way to get your thread locked because it’s obvious you don’t want a discussion.

Also, there’s a couple other threads on controls already anyways.
