First time you played Halo

What was the first halo title you played, what were your first thoughts, and what made you want to play the rest?

When i got my first xbox(original big green slab of a console),
I had 4 games with it; halo CE, Darkwatch, The Suffering, and Conkers Bad Fur Day: Live And Reloaded.
So I started out playing Halo CE(it had the coolest cover out of the 4), I thought it was DUMB, I was running around shooting aliens.
On a side not i had played a lot of shooters on P.C, PS2 , and NGC at the time.
I wasnt really understanding much of the story at the time, nor was my brother(we were playing splitscreen).
From the way i saw it, i was a weird robo-cop rip off of a cyborg(grunts called master chief that in the origional),
crash landing on a giant hoola hoop in the middle of space orbiting some random planet no one cares about.
The hunters and cloaked elites on “Truth And Reconciliation” were pretty cool to keep me playing, but I felt
at the time the whole 2nd level on the halo ring after landing in the pod was taking forever, I felt really bored running around that second level,
it was a nice touch to drive a warthog there, but I had been playing GTA at the time and figured if im gonna be driving around in
a car in a shooter environment it might as well be GTA. Fortunately the magic of splitscreen gaming helped pass the time through
this still boring level as I still hate playing it in anniversary.
So after about 5 levels later i was about ready to play something else(Friend brought over DOOM 3),
and then I was introduced to the freaking Flood.

Im a zombie fanatic from the start, always was from age 5 to today,
I was playing resident evil and doom as soon as i got my hands on it, and i still play them.
Being introduced to these swarms of undead alien parasite zombies that were the flood, completely changed the style of gameplay,
and completely caught me off guard, of which i still go back to halo for the Flood.
The only campaign titles i continue to play in the halo series admittedly are Reach and ODST(4 and 5 weren’t very appealing to me) as far as non zombie titles go.
Thus when i finished the game i was impressed with what i had beaten, a little pissed off at how i wasn’t allowed to wield the fuel rod cannons
(Bungie was a -Yoink- for that, they obviously meant for such a reaction, a toy the player wants but cant have)but nonetheless i continued playing
even after I beat it, I beat it on all difficulties, and soon found out a halo 2 existed O.O and quickly got myself a copy, and to my enjoyment they had
picked up where the story had left, given master chief more personality, along with brilliant eye candy, and even better WEAPONS and the FLOOD.
And it was this game genre of SCI-FI and horror combined that moved me towards games such as dead space.
Halo influenced the games i bought for xbox in the future, and made me excited to hear a 3rd title was being released for 360 at the time.

So over all, hated halo for a bit, loved it after the zombies, still continue to play it today, currently i play custom edition on PC,
343 is pathetic not to pick up on a title like what was done with custom editions setup, and with SPV3 coming along, the game is even more amazing.
Hope the same is done with halo 2 eventually, love the flood campaign and other content the modding community has put together.

I first played Halo 3 on the original xbox 360. I had seen some videos about it and wanted to give it a try so I bought it expecting to get off in a couple of hours to get some sleep before my classes in the morning. I was amazed at the graphics and storytelling and ended up playing it all night.

I first played Halo 1 on the PC (yeah, Xbox was a rare sight in Eastern Europe at that time). The game was pretty solid even though the graphics where a bit low by the time it came out on PC. But it was genuinely fun. Halo 2 I played very late, I think after 3 which i played shortly after it came out on 360.
Halo 3 really made a big fan, the campaign was amazing! After that, I just played all games as they came out.

Halo 1 in my friends basement

CE was my favorite but I didn’t personally own an Xbox until 2. So both kinda got my into it the most but I would take halo 2 because online multiplayer was Awsome.

My friend got halo on the original Xbox, it was a gaming experience I will never forget, it felt like a huge leap forward for a fps, been hooked on every halo game ever since.

Halo CE

When I got my Xbox 360. I got Halo 3 ODST, I liked the game in every single way and I told myself: “I have to play the rest! :D”

And we are still here haha

Halo was the reason I bought my first Xbox. My friend brought his Xbox over one day and showed me CE. Up to that point, I had played mostly sports games on PS and PS2. That game was freaking amazing and I bought an Xbox the next day, and only had Halo for the longest time.

Lacking online multiplayer, I relentlessly played the hell out of the campaign. The beach assault in The Silent Cartographer was downright fantastic, and the end race of The Maw was epic. That had me bought into Halo’s lore and mythology.

Used Xbox Connect for a while for online CE play and didn’t subscribe for Xbox Live until Halo 2 came out. Been hooked on multiplayer since day 1.

Halo 3 was great, albeit with a short campaign. Reach and Halo 4 had good campaigns, but were really bad (in my opinion) with multiplayer, and that took away some of my excitement for future releases. But Halo 5 nailed multiplayer. Now 343 needs to run with that multiplayer and develop a better campaign. All-in-all, happy with the return of the Halo feel and more hopeful for future releases.

I first played CE with my brother and a bunch of his friends at a big lan party. I was about 11 or 12 then and I was terrible. I didn’t kill or accomplish anything, but still had loads of fun. That got me really interested and I bought it on PC. My computer could barely run it, resulting in Master Chief having white armor in all the cut scenes. Not sure why exactly.

Halo CE at my friends house. We were like 7 and his dad said “this game is too violent for you because its rated M but I don’t care”

Literally went from telling us why we can’t play it to telling us to play it in the same breath, it was amazing.

Bought an XBOX that came with CE, and was hooked!! Purchased all the XOBXes for the sole purpose of Halo. Still find my self playing CE. I must have played through the campaigns over a hundred times.

Freshman in highschool. I saw a senior playing Halo CE on PC and asked if I could play. Ended up getting a bootleg copy from him. Enjoyed it so much I bought a legit copy. Maybe because it was one of the first games I could play whenever I wanted, I liked it so much. But I played the crap out of that game over and over again. That same year was when Halo 2 was released, and when I heard about it I knew I’d want to play it.

I was around six at the time, my Dad bought Halo: Combat Evolved ( 3 days after it’s release) and I watched him play it, I really enjoyed it, lol I remember asking him if I could play and he told me I was too young to do so. So when it was bed time for my parents I snuck into my living room and played the game, my eyes really bright with joy (it was my first time playing a FPS so it felt weird). But ever-since I played all the Halos right after it’s release.

halo ce was the first I played, loved it and played the rest, the food was the best enemy to fight against, shotgun sprees all the way  with a bottomless clip haha.
