I’ve been wanting to repurchase Halo 3 since midway though Reach’s life span.
Well, I finally did it!
I went to GameStop and bought ODST, which as you probably know, includes H3 Mythic.
As soon as I heard the “Never Forget” theme, I was immediately flooded with precious memories of the days of old.
I sat there a moment, soaking it in.
After a while, I came back down from heaven.
I thought to myself, “I missed you”.
Obviously, the first thing I wanted to do was play a game of Big Team Battle.
However, with only 49 people in the playlist, that was easier said than done.
Eventually, I decided that I’d rather play alone than not at all.
I loaded up Sandbox in Forge.
Played around with a few of my favorite weapons such as the Sentinel Beam, Flamethrower, and Brute Shot.
I also went for a joyride in the Chopper, Prowler, and Hornet.
While I’m talking about vehicles, I’d like to mention that I destroyed a Ghost simply so I could enjoy the after-explosion.
Another thing I over-dramatized was my incredible Elite armor.
I just love calling myself a dinosaur.
However, even with all this nostalgia, the out-dated game still shined through.
The Forge is so clunky.
Luckily, I still remember all the tricks I used to make maps in Halo 3.
The lighting and general quality is poor.
Game Chat sounds like inaudible fuzz.
You know.
Also, I had to readjust to the game.
Let me ask you this.
Having not played Halo 3 in about a year, what do you think was the first thing I did?
That’s right. Sprint.
Trust me when I say I HATE Sprint.
But adjusting is strange, nonetheless.
When trying to switch grenades, I always hit left or right on the D-Pad.
The lack of bloom on the AR is weird.
Leading shots with the BR is difficult.
The overall difference in aim-assist.
I’m sure there are others I’m missing.
Surprisingly, I adjusted to descope almost immediately with ease.
Also, I’ve confirmed that there is a difference in the Sniper’s aiming.
Even with less aim-assist and descope, I still snipe MUCH better in Halo 3.
They messed with the Sniper in Halo 4.
I’d like to say I’m so happy to be able to play Halo 3 again.
Even though adjusting is somewhat difficult, I still have loads of fun.
If anyone plays Halo 3 often, add me.
As a closing statement, I’ll say this.
I have officially retired Halo 4.
I will no longer support a game that’s poisoning the series I love.
I’m giving 343i one last chance.
Please do what you know is right.
After reading a couple of threads here I decided to go watch some Halo 3 montages and WOW. I missed out the first time around on Halo 3 LIVE, but I’ll gladly give up Halo 4 to try and do my part in re-populating Halo 3. Let’s go back to the good 'ol formula and have some fun!
