I myself am really enjoying it. It seems relatively smooth so far. One thing that I find troublesome is that when I am sprinting, then slide - it keeps me crouched unless I tap jump or sprint again at the end of the slide. Wondering if there is a way to turn that off.
Other than that - the UI looks super clean. It’s easy to navigate. The customization is awesome.
The combat feels really nice. I thought the TTK would feel shorter but it’s actually perfect I think.

The bots weapon challenge has a lot of lag. PC version has some major drop/utilization issues. Outside of that everything feels good.
Quite a few things I’ll need to send a ticket to 343 about so they’re aware like some glitching into walls and stuff, but other than that, I am impressed. This feels so good. Halo Infinite feels really good to play. The flight is so basic but I just can’t put it down.
Feels great on Xbox Series X with performance graphics settings. Love the new needler and assault/battle rifle. The sniper and pistol are going to take some getting use to though.
I was surprised by how…fine the TTK felt. I think it looked so much faster in the livestream yesterday but I think it’s decent at the moment. Maybe a tad longer and it’ll be perfect. Aside from that my only gripe is the explosion sounds could be more detailed and less like bassy thumps. Overall, I’m enjoying it!

It feels weird to play it to begin with lol. Bot challenge is mad broke with lag though.
My first impressions makes me feel like this game wasn’t made with Halo in mind. Personally, this feels like a project dropped on the Call of Duty developer’s laps and were told to make a Halo game.
The gunplay doesn’t feel satisfying. Most guns aren’t fun to shoot and aren’t fun to get shot by, and some don’t even have a purpose at all. An example of this would be the heatwave weapon. Is it supposed to be a shotgun? A sniper? A shotgun sniper? I honestly cannot tell, as I can’t see this weapon being useful at all besides for aesthetic wall bouncing trickshots or to see if you can just get a kill with it, and I have had a chance to use it multiple times now.
Another example is the Commando. I understand this is meant to be about versatility and can be beaten by the assault rifle and battle rifle in their respective roles, but in that case why should it be chosen over either weapon when given the option to switch?
Music. I like the music, but it’s just played too much. Bungie did a great job in having their music actually have meaning and only play it in important sequences. In Infinite, I’m having to listen to a non-stop rock concert while figuring out what color armor my spartan should be. To paraphrase original Bungie music producer Marty O’Donnell, “If the music is constantly playing all the time, it loses meaning and is drowned out by what’s going on.”
I actually ended up liking the movement a lot. 343 did a good job in this aspect, however sometimes I find myself trying to go for the boost button on instinct due to how similar it feels to Halo 5, and I’ve played all the other Halo games more than I have played 5.
Edit:
Something I wanted to add is the feedback while playing the game. The feedback of being shot and shooting someone is there, however it’s implemented incorrectly.
Whenever I’m being shot, the only real noticible indicator I have is my shield bar going down, and maybe a bit of screenshake to go with it. But on the other end, there’s too much feedback whenever I hit someone. Why does the enemy start to glow red whenever I shoot them? Why was that considered necessary? In every game before this, all the feedback we needed was the enemy player’s shields flaring up whenever we hit them, which felt so much more satisfying than them turning into a red glowstick. The addition of the hitmarker is nice, sure, but please. The red glowsticks go a bit too far with the feedback.
Overall its solid, few things Im not sure off, aiming just feels… offf. I cant put my finger on it but it just doesnt feel like other Halo aiming. When you grab sniper the aiming feels slow scoped in, I’ve tried changing the sens and the scoped sens but it just doesnt feel right, hopefully something that can be fixed as I have seen other people making the same comments. Runs great on my 5 year old PC rocketing i7 7700k and 1080ti, getting 100fps on High settings.
Love the pace of the game and the overall feel of the weapons so far, cant wait to play vs actualy players rather than bots because most games end up being 50-5 stomps.
Overall enjoying the preview despite the few nitpicks I have which are you can’t change your Spartan’s gender ie the voice they have and I had to relaunch the build to receive the free credits but otherwise the infinite build is fun to play imo
Not a fan of the UI at all, its needs to be simpler and more Halo like, its very battlefield Destiny style at the moment, add a blue filter over everything and just go back to classic simple menu on the left and players on the right. The customization menu needs to be a list of names going downwards rather than this side scrolling menu! There needs a toggle to turn off the AI voice that doesn’t turn off Jeff steitzer, managed to turn it off because it was so annoying but it also turns off the announcer.
The gun sound effects while good are totally not anything that sound like Halo. The SPNKR sounds horrible. I’m not a huge fan of the sidekick, feels like a terrible weapon. Would like a toggle to turn off the fanfare at the beginning and end of a game, I dont want to see myself or other Spartans, I just want to get straight into the game like Halo 3 does it. Something about the size of the gun reticles make them feel way too small to me. The lighting is weird on the map but I’m sure they have fixed it.
The map itself is awful. The main menu standard music is really bad and annoying, there are times where very Halo music starts playing and thats great but otherwise bleh! Weapons spawning on the wall only and not just randomly on the ground is not something I like, same with callous and indicators to tell where and when power weapons are spawning. The HUD is a mess, moving the ammo counter to the bottom is a bad thing and needs to display all grenades you currently hold and bullet icons rather than numbers.
Pros:
Graphics are great, everything looks way better than halo 5, lots of grit and textures. Love the skewer, feels great when you land a shot. Armours look great in the customization menu. Less spartan abilities is great (still would prefer if there was absolutely none in this game as they feel pointless). The new shield recharge visual is great when it wipes up your screen. If this is how campaign will look then it will look beautiful most of the time.
Great to have the original BR model back and 5hat you can see all the lore for each piece of armour, vehicle and weapon in the customization menu.
After a couple of matches, I can safely say that this indeed a Halo.
But seriously now, I’m pretty happy with I’m seeing even though some of this stuff, like the God of Assault Rifles, is bound to be tweaked as we get closer to launch. I do hope they keep the weapon rotation system (multiple weapon sets for each map) since it has to potential to spice things up when replaying a map frequently. Speaking of maps, I’m really liking Live Fire. The Overshield/Camo spawn is in a very open environment, so it’s going to be risk v reward situation when deciding whether to go for it or not. Overall map flow is really nice too. Can’t wait for 343 to ramp up the bot difficulty and put the other maps in the rotation too.
but i have to ask, what has 343 been doing for the past 6+ years? This is literally halo 5 with less content. I know it’s basically just an alpha but really I expected a different game not a copy of 5 trying to be like 3. Idk. Ive been here since the release of CE, i want this IP to thrive, I want it to be fun. I just don’t like this direction the games have been going in post halo 4. I knew it was wishful thinking to have this game respect the old players of bungo -and- find their own gameplay but at least 4 tried. This just feels recycled. I hope to see more elements added to this, a lot more…
