I think it would be cool to have the option to drive a vehicle in first person for the next Halo game.
No
I really like this idea but it’ll be a pain to use tanks and wraiths. So maybe go back to go how CE was, and only make the passenger fp
Drivers, no.
Passengers, yes.
Wouldn’t mind being in first person for a Warthog side-seat, or the Tank’s chaingun (could provide a better field of view), but for driving the vehicles I feel like it’d be a huge hassle and people would hate it for “not being Halo”.
Just for passengers. Maybe if some new vehicle came out that made sense to be first-person, then yeah.
Thing is, without third person it would be really hard to spot boarders. What i do want however is a zoom in function for the scorpion and warthog turret.

yea i agree with this
Why not just have a view toggle like in other racing games, then it can be up to player choice.
I always lean towards first-person in video games, as it’s more immersive, but Halo has an established style of gameplay, a big portion of which is centered around its signature style of vehicle combat. To slightly expand upon what some other commenters have pointed out, the 3rd person camera while driving a vehicle is very useful for situational awareness and for spotting enemies who are trying to board/hijack. I already feel that Halo 5’s extreme movement abilities have made vehicles too much of a disadvantage rather than the powerful, teamwork-rewarding tool they were in older games. As a note, I hope they tone down speed and abilities a bit in the next game to give vehicles more use again, but it’s more important than ever that the benefit of the 3rd-person perspective remains for the driver.
That said, I would absolutely support the choice to put passengers in first person, which I in fact think could help the aforementioned problem by assisting passengers to hit targets more accurately. I think I’d also approve of putting secondary weapon operators in 1st person.
Only for passengers. Using Banshees, Ghosts, Wraiths, Scorpions, and Mantises would be kind of awkward, considering we’d have to operate them using a small display screen.
i remember in the first halo that if you hoped in the passenger seat it was first person i would find it hard to play so i would say no
I remember watching a video of someone driving a Warthog in first person and it was cool, but it didn’t seem like it would be great for getting around unless they made it like racing games.
I feel like maybe air vehicles could have first person potential, but ground vehicles should stay third person with an option for passengers to be first person.
Really it would be amazing for them to exclude a toggle for changing between 1st and 3rd person for all seating positions. It’s nice to have variety.

Yeah that’s what I mean.
As an option, sure. But not default.
I wouldn’t like that, especially for group vehicles. If the driver can’t see the gunner in a Warthog, he won’t know when to drive away from battle to keep the gunner alive.

Maybe if you can toggle it on and off.

It could work, actually - just press the Y button to switch views, much like how you’d switch weapons.

No. This is a first person shooter not Grand theft auto or need for speed. Nice thought though.
