first person passenger seating in vehicles!!

I think we need a return of halo combat evolveds first person passenger just because ur more accurate with first person than third I mean when ur in the passenger seat to the hog and you don’t have rockets ur basically just sitting there, even on a mongoose just make it first person so people aren’t just riding around. Thanks for listening

I loved first person warthog passenger back in the day. Got plenty of kills on blood gulch riding shotgun in online ctf matches. halo ce pc obviously.

Make it so you can toggle between the two if need be. Third person is obviously preferable for the added awareness you need when you aren’t controlling your direction or speed of motion, but the first person is infinitely preferable for any attempt at combat.

No reason you can’t have the best of both worlds, and I don’t see it as particularly meaningful in shifting the balance of the game… just much less frustration from not having to deal with a sub-optimal UI.

That is not even necessary honestly. Your driver and gunner should have plenty of awareness to make up for your first person perspective.

i agree it should be first person. I even think the gunner in the back should be first person. It would make vehicle fights more intense and less overpowering as they so often are.

Fact of the matter is that the basic multiplayer functionality needs to be designed assuming there will be limited communication between teammates as microphone usage isn’t nearly as prevalent as it was back in the early days of Xbox Live.

I hope not. It’s much easier to aim in the passenger seat in third-person view.

It’d be a lot more fun in First-Person; Didn’t Halo CE do that?

I think so, too. But if folks want a toggle to switch, I’m not opposed to that. I just wouldn’t want to ditch 3rd-person entirely.

I would like this a lot. If they added the option of toggling the 3rd to 1st person, that would be good too. Or make it one way or another. Otherwise some drivers would be more pro and others look better based on which options they chose.

It should be set up as simply as this…

[/li]- ‘Hip Fire’ (Unzoomed) - 3rd Person Perspective… added awareness, better combat when versing vehicle to vehicle combat… less accuracy… more handling.
Best For: Heavy Weapons, Special Weapons, Small Munitions, Riot Weapons, Automatics

  • ‘Down Scopes’ (Zoomed) - 1st Person Perspective… loss of awareness, better combat when versing vehicle to infantry combat… more accuracy… less handling.
Best For: Precision Weaponry, Snipers, Special Weapons, Heavy Weapons

You just change perspectives via your right analog click.

It’s already tough to stay alive when leaving the warthog on enemy territory.
Imagine getting out of the warthog not knowing where your enemies are, since your view is so limited.
I think it should stay as it is.

I was going to suggest this. I just think that you shouldn’t get the full scoped view because you are in a position of power and it would also be very disorienting if you can’t see your surroundings in first person view in scope.

ehh. It was fun in CE but I’m pretty content with 3rd person, thats just me.

For some reason, I always got nauseous when using the passenger seat in CE.

I’ll prefer 3rd person.

It would be cool it they gave you the OPTIONAL feature to turn on first person to EVERYTHING (turrets, vehicles, etc.) during campaign, so you would really feel on Chief’s boots.

It’s as easy as a control setting…

This seems to pop up before every new Halo game.

I still say no.
The reason being that first person view lacks overview for the player in the seat. I know the passenger normally doesn’t really pack a punch, but I’d still like him to have a good view of what is going on around him. FP view takes that away.

And if we were to implement an option for first person view I would doubt my passenger even more…after all: I would not know if he can see everything that is going on or just the narrow point of view from a first person perspective. And with players not communicating anymore I have no means to get to know what he sees.
Ergo: I might get screwed badly because of this.

Furthermore: if you’d give players the option to view things in FP, you’d also need to give gunners and drivers these options which would be even worse.
Think about it: if FP view limits what you see, you definately not want your gunner to not see what is going on mainly on the sides of the vehicle. He is the one protecting your vehicle after all!

As for the driver: same idea. Who would you trust more? First person driver or ‘normal’ driver?
I know I wouldn’t get in a Hog with a driver, passenger or gunner looking at things from FP…

I’d prefer 3rd person but I’m not opposed to adding it providing it were optional.

I always thought that 3rd person was there to better gameplay experiences, because f the better awareness and easier hip firing without being disturbed by all the big movement.

1st person was just for better for immersion
