Would you like to see it?
I would probably not use it since I am used to third-person view in Halo for vehicles, but it would be a cool option to have nonetheless. Getting to experience a Banshee or a Warthog from a different perspective would definitely have a “wow” factor. I don’t think it would be the easiest feature to implement though. I remember Rockstar discussing adding first-person view to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of GTA V wasn’t as easy as moving the location of the camera to be at a character’s face level. I’d also welcome a first-person view when hauling around turrets.
I’d forgo using it myself in Halo- FP driving in games offers pretty poor situational awareness, especially compared to the third person, drawn back perspective we’ve seen in Halo to date. If there were a toggle between a first person and third person view, that might be okay. However, I generally dislike the idea of toggles for gameplay affecting elements like this, and I think the dev resources for shifting up the perspective (admittedly as small as they probably would be) would be better spent on shine and polish in other areas.
Far Cry is the thing I think of when it comes to first person driving in an action game- and although I really enjoy those games, driving can be tricky in them when you have to contend with combat simultaneously. It’s not as fluid as actually driving a car in the real world to be able to turn and survey what’s going on to the sides and rear of you, and it can often be momentarily confusing to determine where threats are coming from. In Halo, that likely translates to a blown-up Warthog. First person in the Scorpion and Wraith just seem like they’d be downright frustrating, too. The Mongoose and Ghost are the only two applications where I think the impact of this would be minimized, but I still think third person is the way to go where competitive action is concerned.
I think this would be a great change. Maybe this could be an option in your settings. Like for the controls and stuff.
I don’t think it would fit very well in a game like Halo. The whole thing about it is that 3rd person view allows us to see the immediate danger around us as we operate any vehicles available to us. While some would be ok with it, as a forced choice? I don’t think I’d be too happy about it. As an optional choice you can change at any time? Sure!
I love the idea of it. I think it’d be a interesting and refreshing touch. Perhaps a more immersive experience. But like others have said, I’m hesitant. If it is implemented, then make it be selectable.
That would be a nice touch, specially for the passenger seat (like Halo CE). So he can actually help the team against enemies, instead of getting out every time XD.

Moving you head and moving an analog stick are very different things yes. Would be cool in VR I think.
Having the option for first-person vehicles would be interesting, whether an in-game toggle or a menu option. However, what I wonder is where does this leave turrets and support weapons (detachable turrets, flame thrower, etc.)? Changing the driver of a vehicle to first-person probably won’t gain them any real advantage. It’d just be an alternate, perhaps more immersive option. I’d test it out every now and then, especially in the campaign, but I wouldn’t use it by default. When it comes to turrets and support weapons though, the third person is a method of balancing them. You’re allowed to see more of your surrounding area while immobile or with a slower movement speed but at the cost of seeing into the distance and aiming more accurately. I feel changing the perspective on turrets and support weapons would change the experience a bit much, but only allowing the option to change views in the driver’s seat would feel odd if you weren’t also allowed to change turret views. That said, I would love to have the option to change views in the passenger seat between first and third person.
I’d certainly appreciate the option for such a thing
I would probably say no in my opinion. In Halo CE you would go in first person while passenger in a vehicle. Don’t get me wrong it might be cool to be passenger in a warthog with a shotgun, but I still think 3rd person would be nicer.
The option to swap would be good … see likes of Battlefield vehicles.
However, with first person there is the problem of not knowing the health of the gunner …

This is a great point. I normally am the gunner, but I am constantly watching the gunner if I am the driver to make sure he/she is doing alright.

I could see it being within the options menu but only as such. I don’t think players should be forced into using 1st person when driving. I much rather prefer the overhead 3rd person that we’ve always had.

Hey! remember u. You were in my list of halo media! and yes I agree. I think it would be a great idea for settings tho.
I miss the first person passenger seat view. I think it would be a cool option to have.

Hi!!! I’m glad to see someone else thinks it would be a cool idea to have in the settings rather than forcing everyone to accept 1st person. The field of view is much more narrow in 1st person as well.

They could always increase the field of view.

That’s fair but that’s why you’re in 3rd person when driving the Warthog. Increasing the field of view while being in 1st person seems a bit contradictory.

If you are referring to the driver’s FOV, then perhaps. I was referring to the passenger’s FOV.
