Hi guys! I was wondering how it would be to see some, just some of the cutscenes or cinematics in FP
Like those in Halo 3 ODST or Reach
Not every one or one long scene, baybe if it’s short or pre/post-gameplay
What do you guys think!
It would be an interesting way to get the player immersed in the game play. Like start the game from a theater-like perspective where you can watch the whole scene play out, then as you are about to jump into the game play, the camera switches to first person for a few seconds before the game actually starts.
If done correctly I don’t have a problem. I love that first person cutscene at the end of the Winter Contingency in Halo: Reach.
I think first person cutscenes can really highlight other characters of the game, but I’m not sure how you do it to highlight the player character.

Maybe like Happy Place8166 say, a bunch of seconds before or after action
I’d like a mix of first and third person
I’m glad you posted this. I’m a huge Halo Reach fan. The cinematography through cameras, satellites, and FP truly immerses me. The first person cutscenes are good for grand shots, so the player can be immersed in the atmosphere of the game. Don’t get your hopes up though. I doubt 343 are going to put cutscenes like that in.
Bungie called them vignettes in ODST. But they go even back to Combat Evolved really, when you’d arrive seated in a Pelican. Would love to see this return, simple and no fuss.

I known what you mean and -if I’m correct- trough all the Master Chief saga (every game we’re he is the protagonist) we have no FP cinematics
The two relly cool exceptions were Halo Reach and 3 ODST
It would be cool to have those Half Life 2 moments in the game, but I wouldn’t enjoy it as much.
The Halo 3 cutscene style was the best in my opinion.
A first person cutscene as the Flood are being reintroduced.

Wait…what?
Depends on the concept behind the storytelling. The stuff in ODST and Reach worked both because of different reasons.
ODST:
Rookie is trying to imagine what his squad mates did, placing him in their shoes. Which gives good reason for some of the minor FPS parts in the cutscenes.
Reach:
This one is completely different! Reach the game never has us actually going through the events as they happened. Like. At all. Instead, most of the cutscenes are recordings from security cams, helmet cams etc with ONI filling in the gaps. All of the extra material that came with the Legendary Edition of the game clearly states that Reach was nothing more than “the most complete and accurate account that anyone has been able to assemble of SPECWAR/groupTHREE/NOBLE’S actions during the final weeks before the Covenant glassed Reach.” Emphasis mine. This means some of the contradictions between Fall of Reach and Reach (game) can be attributed to the game being an ONI reconstruction (and likely propaganda) and the book being a realtime account (if only 40 pages from an orbital perspective). And since the key protagonists were mostly dead (except for Jun and Halsey) it would make sense for the story to be mostly told through ‘third party’ material.
Now, not all of that is FPS of course but they do have solid reasons for portraying the cutscenes in the way we know them. Same goes for the introduction of the Flood in CE for instance. If something similar to the reasons above is in Infinite: sure, give me parts that are FPS. If not, I’d rather have a more cinematic approach to cutscenes.
