What happens is, in classic … I’m sorry … “I C O N I C” Chief form, he crash lands on the ring. Only this time, he lands so hard, all of Cortana’s nanobots die and fall out of his armor, causing it to revert to its former appearance.
Halsey develops mark VII and a new Cortana and she says “this is the way you design armor.”

It could be better than the “nanomachines, son” thing with H4. Though im kot sure about the dialogue. It could definitely make sense to change the helmet near the beginning given the damage it has to it since there could be some form of space or hostile environment battles.
