I think I have a good idea on how the first 15 minutes of Halo 4 is going to be.
The game is going to start dark. Then a dream occurs. It could be about the final mission of Halo 3, a nightmare about Cortana or the Flood, or something else.
The dream is interrupted by Cortana’s voice. The Chief slowly wakes up and can see Cortana. He breaks out of his cryo tube (which may require pressing the X,Y,B or A button a couple of times) and has a quick talk with Cortana. She probably tells him something like “there’s no time.” You see her glitch up a bit, a sign of her rampancy.
Then explosions occur. The chief finds a way through the dawn. He manages to see the opening to the Shield World. This part may be in first person and interactive, but you can’t control the movements.
A countdown timer on the screen shows that the Chief has little oxygen left. The Chief then hears something on the comms. He hears that the UNSC Infinity has found the ship and is asking for any survivors to respond. He replies saying something like “This is Spartan-117, my oxygen is low and I need immediate extraction.” The Infinity sends a Pelican or two to recover him. After he’s saved the Dawn explodes.
On the Infinity the Chief receives medial attention for freezer burn and his injuries from Halo 3. While recovering, the chief does some simple tests (this will be how the controls are configured.) Everything is in first person so you won’t see his face, but you might see his arms or legs. After this Captain Andrew Del Rio explains to him what has happened since Halo 3. This will provide a backstory for fans who didn’t read Glasslands, and a summary of what happens after Glasslands.
Something causes the Chief to be ordered to put on Mark VII armor and sent down the Shield World. Possibly to recover Forerunner technology or the ship is fired upon by Forerunner sentinels.
So basically instead of having Chief be alone on the Legendary Planet and develop the sense a mystery and then bring in the UNSC Infinity as a plot twist, you just want to waste it’s potential.
Sounds awesome. However, my first 15 minutes is going to be finding where the power weapons respawn, and how many shots to kill an enemy for multiplayer, not to mention spawn zones and respawn timers!
I like it. The dream sequence is a nice touch. A simple recap for a game that came out 5 years ago.
I just hope the cutscenes don’t look like the anniversary terminals. I really don’t think they will, but you never know.

Yes. I’d rather explore the planet alone for a nice portion of the game. The Infinity should show up about half way through.

I think a nifty idea would be to have Chief try to get to the Infinity, yet everytime he gets close it eludes him. Then in the next Forerunner novel, Chakas can be retracing the Librarian and Didact’s last steps through information gleamed from the LP WHILE Chief is trying to get to him.

But do you think we would start off a good portion of the game in the same armor? Doesn’t seem like 343i would do that. Now that I think about it though, I kind of like it. If we played a couple levels in the old armor and then received the new armor
I just think this is how it’s going to occur. There will still be a sense of wonder and mystery. What’s in the Shield World? What mysteries lye in there?
Also this would mean that the first actual mission is going to be a cutscene/level. Kinda like Halo 2 where you have The Heretic and The Armory. The 3rd “level” will be the first actual level and you’ll be wearing the new Mark VII.
Also the Infinity finding him at the beginning of the game would make sense. This is how he would get new weapons. I doubt that while he’s scrambling through the Dawn that he’s going to find any weapons, and if he does they’ll probably be low in number.

Then why not have the cutscene show the LP pulling the Dawn into it and subsequently into the LP itself? The Infinity isn’t necessary at this time in the story.
This is just what I see to be the most likely. I find it a bit unusual for 343i to have the player still use the same loadout and gameplay as Halo 3 for a couple levels.

Who says they will? You don’t need to shoehorn in a cliche rescue from the Infinity that just conveniently showed up.
If the events of the concept art trailer are even remotely close to what happens in the game, then the Dawn is destroyed outside of the Shield World.

Big hint there, concept art. Also in the concept art we see Chief walking out of a ships’s wreckage.

You mean this?

Yes.
This is probably the most likely way the game is going to be introduced.
Are we going to explore around doing nothing? Some random enemy comes out of nowhere?
HMMM?

Because Chief can’t possibly try to get to certain destinations and learn what occurred n the Shield World after 100,000 years of it existing and fight enemies along the way that consider him a threat, you know, because the Precursors seem pretty hellbent on killing everyone.
That doesn’t look liek the wreckage of a ship to me. That ship looks like it is just sitting there minding it’s own business. Also that ship might not be the Infinity, maybe the ONI ship with Spark-II?

We only see a small portion of it. Honestly, you see an intact ship, I see a wreak, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that.

In all honesty, a lot of Halo fans like Halo games for action, I doubt anything like that would be much longer than 5-10 minutes max.
People have short attention spans, I doubt 343i will do just for this reason.
