okay so I am sure countless people have probably had this idea before but I would just like to restate it as I thought of it randomly today. Now the Artemis system in the campaign was really cool and useful, and I was thinking about maybe intergrading a version of it into Halo Arena Matchmaking, and I also thought of some fixes for the obvious problems for it that I would like to list now…
Problem A. How would it work?
My Thoughts: Well similar to the little radar bleep you can already do in matchmaking with the simple Up tap on the D-Pad, this system would use down on the D-Pad to mark enemies and Left Tap on the D-Pad yo mark a position or weapon.
Problem B. Wouldn’t being able to tag enemies and have the marker follow them through walls be extremely unbalanced and would be exploited?
My Thoughts: well the Marker could have a system where it marks the player for a full second before just hovering above his last known position for 4 more seconds before disappearing.
Problem C. It is possible for members of game lobbies to just non-stop spam this and both confuse and annoy teammates, leading to a new form of trolling.
My Thoughts: this one was fairly simple to think of, have it so that similar to how only Locke could use it in the campaign, only fireteam leaders can use it in matchmaking, and only members of their fireteam could see it, this would also hopefully encourage more people to partner up and hang out.
Anyways those were my thoughts, feel free to give your honest opinion to me

I think the D-Pad could have some minor customization, though it needs to be planned out a bit. You could choose between the following:
Flashing your service tag as a beacon - Cycling through grenades - Marking an enemy / vehicle / weapon / objective - Commanding your team to move up - Using the Artemis tracker to find hidden items - Inspecting your weapon in hand (idle animation)Still, I see a lot of potential in this!
So this thing would mark enemies no matter where they are on the map, regardless of if they’re standing still or moving, invisible or not, and would take a full 5 seconds for it to disappear?

Sounds a lot like the underused Threat Marker attachment if I had to be honest.
No. WAY, way way WAYYY too much information given to the players. I mean, adding it to Warzone ONLY would be fine. But anything that is verses a person sounds terrible and just like they are trying to give away last places participation prizes lol.
Also, if I am understanding this correctly – You would like trackable hitmarkers that last a full second on the enemy team by your command. That sounds more into the “This is a single player game” category instead of a “This is a competitive first person shooter” category lol. I mean, if this was an add-on feature and it can only be available in, say Campaign or in Warzone/Firefight, then sure – have at it. But this feature sounds like the way to completely make people stop playing a video game due to ‘frustration of why they always can kill me’ lol. Kind of like how Halo 4 never de-scoped you, making it nearly the easiest sniper to use in any game ever imaginable lol. In theory, sure. In practice, no lol…just no.

No, it would be more like tagging in Rainbow 6 Siege. Which works for that game, but that is a different type of shooter compared to Halo. Mechanics don’t always transfer over well.
