Today i logged into Halo 5 for the first time in a while (because I’ve been busy at work) and noticed something quite strange. I saw that the new Halo Loot Crate features a group called Fireteam Apollo. Some of you might see nothing strange about this but it really stood out to me. Why do you ask? Because I am the leader of Fireteam Apollo and have been since 10/19/15, eight days before the release of this game. Now I’m not sure whether I should be offended by 343 or flattered. On one hand, my team will look like we are unoriginal and as though we stole that name. On the other hand, 343 thought that our name was worthy enough to be officially used. Regardless, I do feel awkward from all this and don’t really like having my team name shared. Maybe 343 should just model their little figures after the real Fireteam Apollo. That would be fair and would be something cool to do for my teammates but I’m sure it won’t happen. I suppose all that I really want is some recognition and for you all to know that Fireteam Apollo has been around for a long time and we aren’t stealing any names. We are Fireteam Apollo and we love Halo.
The likelihood of 343 and Lootcrate choosing to use Apollo based on your Spartan Company is very low OP, I’m sure this is something that has been in motion for quite some time. They’ll have had a list or potential names, probably an internal project name, but it’s really just a coincidence that your name was used. Could have potentially happened to any number of companies
