Firepower Package

So in the description for the Firepower Tactical Package, it says;

“By alternating redundant magnetic streams at the rear of a Spartan’s armor, the Firepower Package overrides regulated loadout limitations, allowing users to carry two primary weapons simultaneously. For Spartans who prefer heavier or longer-ranged firepower over close-range versatility and speed, this package is typically considered imperative.”

Now, why the special attention drawn to primary weapons? Does this mean that there will be a difference between a primary and sidearm? For example, you can carry an Assault Rifle and Magnum, but not an Assault Rifle and Battle Rifle unless you have the FTP.

This might also explain why in the stage demo the Master Chief picked up the Light Rifle and we see him drop the Battle Rifle, and then again when he picks up the Scattershot. In both instances, the Chief is only carrying one weapon; what would be considered a Primary Weapon as they’re stored on the back.

Thoughts?

I’m am pretty sure he had the BR in his hand and he swapped weapons…

Ah crap, just realized he also had the Assault Rifle…

Still, why the attention drawn to “Primary Weapon”? Perhaps these packages don’t apply to the Campaign? I could certainly see it as annoying if we weren’t able to scavenge grenades off dead bodies in campaign.

Ok, so you can “unlock” primary and secondary weapons. A couple primary have been confirmed. AR,DMR,BR,Carbine,Storm Rifle. Secondary are like your magnum and pp. It is simple as that, part of the loadout system.

Yes, but does this mean that we can’t swap say a Battle Rifle for a Plasma Pistol so that we’re carrying say a Battle Rifle and Storm Rifle?

I don’t mean to offend you OP, but I don’t understand what your asking

Well, in the OP the example of campaign has kind of been shot. I’m guessing that it’s only for War Games, maybe Spartan Ops.

However, the Firepower Package allows for a Spartan to carry “two primary weapons.” If a Primary weapon is something like a Battle Rifle, DMR, Light Rifle, Assault Rifle, etc (weapons that are stored on the back,) does this mean that without the Firepower Package we cannot carry two of these?

So basically:

With Firepower Package -
Weapon 1: Assault Rifle - Weapon 2: Battle Rifle (POSSIBLE)

Without Firepower Package -
Weapon 1: Assault Rifle - Weapon 2: Battle Rifle (IMPOSSIBLE)
Weapon 1: DMR - Weapon 2: Magnum (POSSIBLE)

Dw in the MLG vids they were swapping their Magnums out for power weapons and dropped DMRs/BRs/Carbines

It only affects what you can initially spawn with, it doesn’t limit what you can pick up.

Loadout options without Firepower:
Primary: DMR, BR, AR, Carbine, Storm Rifle, Light Rifle, others to be announced
Secondary: Magnum, Plasma Pistol

Loadout options with Firepower:
Primary: DMR, BR, AR, Carbine, Storm Rifle, Light Rifle, others to be announced
Secondary: Magnum, Plasma Pistol, DMR, BR, AR, Carbine, Storm Rifle, Light Rifle, others to be announced

(not sure if you can spawn with a Magnum/Plasma Pistol in your primary slot, or why anyone would want to now they’re nerfed)

That makes sense. Honestly a little disappointing, but good to know.

Disappointing? How so?

Well, I honestly wouldn’t mind the limitation of having to think on a primary and secondary at all times. It would really change the dynamics of the game.

There has always been a classification of weapons OP. Sidearms being represented most recently with commendations of small arms (Plasma Pistol and Magnum). The same can be said of automatic weapons (Assault rifle, Needler, Spiker, etc.). And primary guns have always been considered the precision guns: BR/DMR. When it comes down to campaign, I believe 343 will act on pre-existing elements and not S-IV modifications. There is no evidence to suggest we have the capabilities or setup of S-IV’s in campaign yet, so I’ll toss down my .02 and say we will be able to operate under the parameters of Halo 3 with a few natural additions we should have been able to do (sprint).

Limiting a player like that would be a much more drastic change than anything else so far. It wouldn’t work in a game like Halo.

Granted, Sitri, but I personally would still enjoy it.

Packages do not apply to the campaign. They only apply to War Games(Multiplayer) and Spartan Ops.

The reason for splitting the guns is to keep the player from being to powerful off the bat. You want to be as powerful as you want to be, you will need to fight for it. It is entirely possible to run with a DMR and a BR without the Firepower TACpack, but you will first need to kill the jerk holding YOUR battle rifle to do so.

I imagine seeing the following combination (besides the obvious DMR/BR, Carbine/DMR combos) with Firepower.

I believe the AR/Storm Rifle (automatics) count as Primaries and with Firepower, you can pair it up with a DMR or possibly the Light Rifle (unless that’s a power weapon but i am not sure if it’s been confirmed or not).

The DMR is good at mid to long range but so so at close while the Assualt Rifle/Storm Rifle is more for killing up close (the DMR’s weakness) while being terrible at longer ranges (the DMR’s strong point).

I can’t see the point of this perk when the DMR will be superior to the BR in every measurable way…

i think the SMG would work as a secondary. its not powerful, and is really only effective at short range

Obviously they don’t apply to Campaign, you can only customise your loadout (and Spartan overall) in multiplayer.

BR and DMR with the package

BR and AR without
