Firefight's Problem

I think really instead of focusing too much on multiplayer matchmaking. I think Firefight is UNBALANCED. Because of the AIs. Like: Heretics
In the second and third waves is like pure h#ll. They can’t miss even a single shot. Even if you have a 2x Shield and unlimited shots…
You’ll still die consistently.
(Especially playing alone: Like Me)Or hell, even doubles.

I seem to get through it just fine. I usually lose 1-2 lives during that same round but it’s the only challenging part of playing FF. Man up.

You died in a gametype that gives you infinite lives.

It doesn’t matter.

EDIT: That said, I always thought the Heretics should be the Boss Waves since they are much harder than a small group of Generals or Chieftains.

Absolutely. That or bring back All Hunters as the boss wave.

Heretics (especially snipers and rocketeers) are the most annoying enemies in firefight, I don’t know why they weren’t put into the bonus round to give firefight an epic climax.

I don’t have a problem with Heretic Elites.

I have a problem with 24 Heretic Elites who can’t miss ever, and basically have a bottomless clip enabled with the trigger happy modification. I have a problem with not even being aware of a Heretic off to your side shooting you with a Rocket while you deal with the 8 Elites already in front of you. I have a problem with Heretic Elites being able to fire off Rockets with total precision WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY evading your own shots with ease. I especially like how Rockets fired by Heretics track you THROUGH an Evade, while your own rockets/bullets/plasma does nothing to the Covenant if THEY Evade. (See last paragraph)

The thing I don’t understand about the Heretic Elite waves is why ALL of them are Elites. No one in their right mind would survive a round of Heretic Heavies in anything other than Arcadefight. And even there I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had Heretic Heavies spawn in, only to see 6 rockets heading straight for me. That means NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL, period. Everyone always talks about Arcadefight being free credits and who cares how often you die. Well Atcadefight is still a survival mode and I pride myself on getting through with as few deaths as possible. But both the 2nd and 3rd round Heretic waves are at best difficult to get through alive. On boards like Courtyard and Corvette they are next to impossible. (Note: In my experience the only way to survive those boards is if the Elites decide to just not attack you and go after someone else, which happens but not often.) I would have liked to see the option of Heretics combined with Grunts, Jackals, etc, if only to cut down on the numbers of rockets and grenade launches flying all over the place.

Heretic Elites are another example of a good idea poorly executed in Halo Reach.

My rant about how Covenant can do things that are impossible for Spartans to do is an excellent illustration of artificially building frustration into a game instead of smart game-play. The thing Halo: CE did so well was that everything operated exactly the same on you as it did on the Covenant. All weapons were predictable and could be swapped readily while knowing their capabilities. That is emphatically NOT the case in Reach. The blueberry shooter is an excellent example. The weapon tracks like there’s no tomorrow in Multiplayer and is an extremely powerful weapon to deploy. But the instant you fire off a blueberry at a Covenant they Evade and the blueberry just flies straight, completely defeating the purpose of the weapon in the first place. (Yes, I’m aware the weapon is “anti-vehicle” but just like the FRG it has anti-personnel features too.) That mkaes one “power” weapon mostly useless in the hands of a Spartan but deadly in the hands of the Covenant. Another example, the endless overcharge/instant overcharge. The plasma pistol can be overcharged, but it takes a second for the charge to build, then continuously depletes the battery until fired. Unless you’re Covenant. I’ve watched a Jackal on Beachhead survive an entire round carrying an overcharge. I’ve also gone against groups of Jackals and Grunts who have one person wielding an overcharge, but then getting hit with two or even three overcharges as I move towards them. The other overcharges literally appear out of nowhere. Not only is that annoying but it has taught me: DO NOT TRY TO USE MELEE!! That particular behavior literally destroy one of the three sides of the Golden Triangle. Talk about stupid.

Get better at firefight, i used to die, now i can get through entire matches with 0 deaths. Dont try to use the sniper the whole match, or atleast pick up a power weapon that will take care of business when crap hits the fan. Melee>assassination is powerful against the elites, in one match, i assassed 5 in a row!

Yea, but what about the Perfectionist Commendation.
It requires you not to die for at least one round*
