Firefight?

What about a customizable warzone that take the elements from the past firefights (halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach)?

The player could be able to do the following:

  • Can play in solo, coop or on multiplayer
  • Selecting pre-existing maps or forged ones
  • Be able to select the difficulty of the match
  • Have the possibility to edit the wave (how many units are spawned, which units and on which order they are spawned)
  • Can be part of the Enemy AI team (with decreased health and damages to balance the game)

Funny how all the features you mentioned and more are readily available in games that are 8.5 and 9.5 years old, but Halo 5 managed to keep exactly 0 of those features. H5 Firefight’s still fun, but it leaves so much to be desired and there are flaws evident all the time. I hope to see all the things you listed and more in Infinite otherwise it’s going to be another disappointment. Hell, I’d honestly be fine if they simply reskin Reach’s version and stick it in there.

Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE Warzone Firefight…but I hate that it’s so short. Firefight was always about surviving waves upon waves of gradually difficulty increasing enemies, now it’s just a 5 round game type that lasts 5 minutes per round and often times the rounds are buggy or severely unbalanced (like when we kept getting the Banshee waves on round 2 when most people only had Req 2, 3 at most…).

Firefight was supposed to see how long you could last and had fun and interesting stipulations. If we could get that back, that’d be appreciated.

And OP, that kind of FF was actually in Reach, dunno why they scrapped it.

i didn’t like the fireright of halo 5 gaurdians at all, i probably would have… if i hadn’t played the ones from odst and reach. where there is in my knowledge no limil to the levels. and probably that it just is more fun to fight the covenant than the promtheans.

and a friendly ai drop team option when earned enough points or something

Thats a pretty good idea, after X amount of point you can choose to drop 4 marines or a warthog/Scorpion

Firefight in halo 5 was disappointing, it changed alot and it made it too easy to complete but it was a cool idea to add herpic, legendary and mythic

heroic*

H5 firefight was a joke. They wanted us to pay money just so we could do enough damage to win a round LOL

Obviously we want the customization that we had before but i did like having an objective telling me to do something even though most of them were stupid or done at the wrong time. “round 2: destroy 10 phateons” like wtf. My favorite thing is the invincible turrets shooting the stuff we have to defend when they do so much damage but we cant kill them. Thats some genius game design for the game franchise that encourages you to shoot the turret users

We need to go back ODST style firefight.

Yeah firefight definitely needs to be customizable. What I’m hoping for is spawnable AI in Forge so we can just make our own firefight maps and rounds, and even re-create campaign levels if we want to.

Yes, actually the “SnapMap” mod currently present on the game D00M is the perfect representation of this feature (you can create your own cutscene, put any soundtrack present on the game, make any AI spawn when the player enter an Area or use terminals, put objectifs on the map, etc,)

we need the Reach style, everything from starting weapons to actual round settings were customizable

I think firefight should be a normal round based thing that get’s harder and at the end of each set you fight a boss with the bosses getting tougher after each set.

I really hope FireFight returns, and a Warzone version that can be played solo/co-op 2player would be great. Reach FireFight was great because it included the great ODST style as well as all the new awesome of Reach FireFight.

The best would be to add both
The firefight for the players that want to survive wave after wave in solo/coop
And the warzone for those who want to fight in a large team and defeat bosses
I think if 343i do like this, everyone will find their interrest

Thinking of something I’d like in FireFight.
I would like the awesome Halo 2 Anniversary map Ascension to return in some amazing capacity. That map is inspirationally beautiful. Floating along, high above the ring. I’d like to see it developed into a firefight map. Each wave of enemies flies to the map from various places and gives you time to set up for the next round. Phantoms and Banshees strafe the top platforms as troops are dropped off. Lots of cool ideas for this cool map!
Maybe every so often a Lich orbits the map bombarding it, and you get to fire large gun placements and batteries at it to destroy it. If you’re good enough to have a flying vehicle around you could even fly to it, board it and take it out from the inside. Just remember you need to get back to the map or you just lost another life.

^ I agree, and I rather they add classical FireFight with some new features.

I would really like to see a good old fashioned Firefight mode in Infinite against waves of Covenant. I would also like Warzone to be kept and if I am honest it would be great to see something similar to Spartan Ops return so we can continue to get more content. I know I am asking for like everything but I figure why not?

I loved Warzone Firefight as well. I thought it was fun and interesting. I don’t want Halo to just be all of the same gametypes and playstyles it’s been forever. I thought Warzone FF was an interesting way of doing it. But yeah, there was a lot of unbalance, and a lot of that was a product of the REQ system—both for the thing you mentioned and because if you get a group of people hesitant to use up their REQs on the later rounds, then it becomes impossible to beat it within the time limit. And if you play on Legendary, you end up using an -Yoink- ton of REQs and then have to return to lower difficulties unless you want to be a practically useless team member.

I can’t see Warzone FF and classic FF being able to co-exist, because too many gametypes can split the playerbase too much, especially in its later years, but I don’t know which I’d rather have. I respect and appreciate 343’s innovation though, so I guess I’d rather just see them try to balance and rework Warzone FF to be somewhat more inspired by classic FF. Honestly, it’s not all that different atm. It’s still the same wave fight-style underneath the REQ veneer. *Though I do prefer the limited lives aspect from Reach more than just the time limits of Halo 5.
