Ok, So i loved the original firefight idea with wave after wave of enemies and a limited amount of lives. But what I think I would love to see happen is a kind of mixture. Let me explain. I would love to see a Firefight “War”. A huge platform where there is a progression movement like Infection which at intervals you move from one location to another, but not in a sense of being encased or blocked by the stage by walls, but blocked by a blockade of enemy. Also, not just 12 Spartans, but an army of about 30 Spartans. So like a wide–Yoink- open outside area, with a final destination but a limited amount of lives. SO lets say 12 lives, 8 checkpoints that must be taken over by the Spartans from the enemies, and weapons and vehicles along the way. A shi… ton of enemies at every checkpoints that sends about 5 waves of enemies with each wave being more aggressive. At the end of every checkpoint a life is received based on your performance (1 life for every 25 enemies killed or 3 vehicles destroyed) Making it very challenging. Also at the end of each checkpoint, a ONE TIME access to reqs of a particular level. (Checkpoint 1 complete, one time access to lvl 2 reqs… any 2 reqs with ammo banks along the way. Checkpoint 2 access to lvl 3 reqs,)as you move into the next area.
With 30 Spartans in such a large area… you have to protect one another because you need as much spartans alive at the end to complete the mission… or just have a Total life amount for all spartans to share. The stage will be too big to run, so there would have to be vehicles to move to other checkpoints, this provides a large area for battle with enemy vehicles will be coming at you aswell. Also limited vehicles, so Spartans would have to share (Creates comradery and where they have to work together). Bodies and weapons on the floor and such as you go. Also, progression into other checkpoints brings you into other wars that you have to clear out (covenant and flood battling) (Flood and Forerunners) blah blah… at the end you clear the entire place of all enemies. Also, when I say open area, ofcourse there will be structures to take cover and such. Each checkpoint area has a different scenery, ( Forest type area, large structure, dessert type area, swamp type, city type, blah blah blah… Enemy difficultty progresses but NONE of that Shield doesn’t regenerate, or no motion tracker nonsense though. Just have to be good enough to survive the war. I know I didnt give a full portrait, but try to use your imagination.

Nice idea. Maybe that’ll be something in Halo Infinite but it won’t be in Halo 5. They’re done with H5 and focusing on MCC, Infinite and beyond.
My idea is that FireFight becomes just like Mass Effect multiplayer but with halo characters instead which would allow us to play as aliens as well as Spartans with custom loadouts, special abilities and consumables (ONLY IN THIS VERSION OF FF so nobody freak out) to make it a very tactical style game mode.
