Hey, I was just wondering if FF versus would return to matchmaking. I just like Elites more than Spartans, and want a matchmaking game for Elites, other than Invasion. So, does anyone want it to return, besides me?
If Firefight versus was to return, they would need to increase the health for Elites and increase the number of players in the match. Maybe make it to where its a full set so that the game is longer.
I loved the 3v3 in the Beta, but that was just a test for the netcode for campaign/FF matchmaking. I would love it to come back, but I won’t get my hopes up.

FFV wasn’t just in the BETA though they had it in the line up for a short time. It wasn’t that popular and it lagged quite a bit. I thought it was ok needed work though,imo.
Get rid of the covy AI, they ruin Versus IMHO. The beta had it down perfectly. Overlook, two Elites and Spartans. Defend/destroy the generator, perfection. Latency issues was a problem back then but with Reach’s superior netcode it can work.
Now with the AI involved the Spartans require boosts in damage and shields. This makes the enemy AI easier to kill as well as the human controlled Elites who receive no positive modifiers besides weak cannon fodder AI. It didn’t matter if you choose grunts, skirms, Brutes or Elites; they all dropped like flies.
While somewhat enjoyable, it was definitely one sided. Most of the time, the Elites had to resort to noob combo to drop the already powerful Spartan over shields. I believe this was the drop shield class when it was up in the Grab Bag playlist. The other classes were either useless or made it much harder to kill the Spartans.
So really the only way i can see this game variant getting popular once more is to get rid of the AI, add in one generator (or perhaps add in three) and make it 2 V 2 or maybe even 4 V 4. There would be no lives on each side, the attackers must destroy the generators before the time expires while the defending team hold the line and protect the generators from the attackers. At the end of each round, teams switch sides. Only the attacking team can score points, so make it count. It’s best out of four and if a winner cannot be determined (I.E zero points) then the game is considered a tie. If multiple gennys are involved, then each one destroyed is point for the attacking team. Matches would be seven minutes per round.

I do kinda miss that Gametype. There is so much potential left in Halo. This is why I am so excited about Halo 4… and beyond!
