Firefight should have been better.

It’s not challenging, it’s cheap. Enemies that absolutely overwhelm you in numbers and spawn all around you, banshees that shred through even the toughest vehicles in seconds, enemy shots tracking you with aimbot-like accuracy, obscenely high enemy health even for non-bosses, coupled with a frustratingly long respawn time, this doesn’t spell fun. There’s no depth- you need a strong vehicle or you WILL NOT be of any use. If you survive, it’s because you got lucky and the enemies chose to target your teammates instead of you. Firefight should’ve been a fun PvE mode, but it’s not. It’s a real shame, this game had potential.

I only use it for practice before jumping into regular warzone or arena. I could not care any less if I win or lose a match. bullet sponge enemies are not fun.

The OP says it all. Why did they have to make WZFF just as hard as when battling against players in Warzone.

The banshee boss is the worst encounter yet, with it’s ability to completely destroy you in any situation.

Everything should have been better.

You would think they would have updated it by now because of the outrage from the community… but … 343 tends to take their time when it comes to updates, and sometimes they’re not very fulfilling updates/fixes.

And by the time they do get around to fixing it, most people have stopped playing, the fix isn’t what we expected, and they’ll probably nerf everything to the point of being way too easy. Bringing us back to square one.

Such are the ways of 343’s updates.

I agree it’s really frustrating to play. The most annoying thing is probably the respawn time, sitting there for 30 seconds without even being able to spectate is just painful. It’s PvE… there is no need for a respawn time over 5 seconds. And the AI… there’s leading a shot, and then there’s seeing into the -Yoinking!- future. They all must be psychic because they know exactly where I’m gonna be before even I do. Even if I’m sprinting on the other side of the map i’m getting hit with pin-point accuracy. It seems the only way to get a decent amount of kills is to get a Hog or Ghost and just splatter everything. Even power weapons have too little ammo to be useful because everything is so OP. You actually feel like you’re fighting computers and not sentient beings. Overall, frustrating, not fun.

I’d rather it be hard then be how it was in the beta. There is no situation that is unwinnable IF you coordinate with your team. Where’s the fun in plowing through things all the time with no challenge?

Reach’s firefight had way more diverse/fun modes and the enemies while hard to fight was not impossible while in halo 5 we have to eliminate 4 mythic Hunters at once with only under 5 minutes to get that objective done. Why can’t we just fight random enemies but no phaetons and wardens. It’s a shame because WZFF had so much potential. I only play to either challenge myself, spend reqs that I’m never going to use or to get a tonne of req points.

I’d like a version where it isn’t so painfully obvious that you’re only there to burn through your REQs. Hell I’d like a version without REQs, that’d be fun.

Its been almost 2 years since that firefight megathread was started and in it were filled with over 90 pages of posts with ideas. Alot of them were good ideas. I think the majority of them were simply just a return to the classic with reqs and an option to play it solo offline. I read and posted in that thread frequently and nowhere do i remember ppl wanting bullet sponge bosses, 5 min round timers, cheap enemy spawns and only being able beat the mode with nothing weaker than a hannibal scorpion. Yea…another wasted opportunity to bring back a classic game mode bigger and better. Oh well i guess.

ODST Firefight is still my favorite. There was an actual sense of survival and strategical planning.

Yup and no way to play it on xbone…

Hell, scratch that I’d even settle for a version with no vehicle REQs and just regular ones, because right now the only possible way to win is have enough people call in Wraiths, Scorpions, Mantises or Phaetons because they’re the only REQs that do anything to these enemies.

honestly i think A LOT of the issues with WZFF would be solved with changes to the spawning and respawn timer. even bullet spongy bosses wouldn’t seem quite so bad if i don’t have to wait for 30 seconds every time they kill me, or if i can get back to my Answer before it disappears with half the ammo left. defend rounds would be better if we spawned closer and enemies didn’t spawn on top of objectives. bosses would be better if not spawning in the pelican bays of bases.

So are we just gonna pretend like a middle ground doesn’t exist? We can only have it frustratingly difficult or laughably easy? We can’t have something like ODST Firefight?

A more classic Firefight would be far more preferable. Where you can choose what difficulty you wanna play, the enemies get progressively harder, they aren’t bullet sponges, they don’t have insane accuracy and damage output, it requires actual teamwork, not everyone using over powered weapons and vehicles that still don’t guarantee you a win.

ODST Firefight was actually difficult and a real challenge. Warzone Firefight is an unnecessarily frustrating joke.

Yes, this has been said since firefight began in june. Does 343 even listen?

Give constructive criticism and it hopefully will change.

I agree. No customization, bad maps (I’m looking at you urban), and bullet sponge enemies. Hard, but not in the right way. I’ve played it just a few times and am already kinda done with it.
