Firefight should be more like nazi-zombies

Firefight was a cool addition in Halo 3 ODST, but lets face it, it’s pretty much just sitting back with unlimited ammo and most of the time no vehicles and really no challenge. Firefight should be more like -Yoink!--Zombies were if you die you have a chance to get revived by your teammate and you should be able to buy perks and other things such as weapons with the points you get. There should be more time put into it and it should have the same repsect as any other gametype and deserves as much time and effort put into it. Also you should be able to play firefight on mulitplayer maps as well, and be able to use forge to customize them as well.

This isn’t COD it is Halo.

There’s been so many of these threads and yes it should be in Halo 4.

While I agree with you that firefight needs some updating, but everything else I completely disagree with. Halo is in no way Call of Duty nor is it trying to be Call of Duty. If you enjoy -Yoink!- Zombies, go play it on CoD. They are two completely separate franchises.

No offense, but why are there so many CoD-esque feature threads around?

Not that I got anything against CoD, but the suggestions people are taking from CoD don’t fit Halo. This is also one of those.

Firefight just needs to be more about survival. Personally, I think that being able to top up your default weapon at an ammunition rack detracts from the desperation that players should feel. While I might start off a game with a DMR (or equivalent), once it runs out I should be forced to rely on guns that I’ve scavenged from downed enemies, using them up and tossing them away as necessary.

They should not focus on what is in CoD. Instead they should focus on making a unique, and original Halo experience. Look at other games that have tread the path of the Call of Duty franchise. Kill zone, Resistance, and Crisis. They are clones, because those developers looked at what appealed to the CoDs audience, and did not focus to well on an original experience.

I agree that unlimited ammo makes the game less fun. I enjoyed firefight more in ODST, but I can understand why somebody would want to play with unlimited ammo. I’d love to forge FF maps for customs, as well. I don’t think they should liken it to -Yoink!- Zombies.

-Yoink!- Zombies is great in its own respect, but I think it belongs in Treyarch CoD’s and not in Halo. Firefight has its own great things. It’s an entirely different dynamic with enemies that shoot.

Reach doesn’t even have actual firefight in MM anymore.

As much as i love -Yoink!- zombies i have to disagree. Why cant we as a community just let things stay in their rightful place? Why would you want all your games running together and no longer be able to tell what you are playing? I play halo because i like halo not because i want it to be more like CoD.

I personally dont care about firefight in the slightest but i know it has a few loyal fans and i think 343 owes it to them to revitalize it and make a completely new and enjoyable experience while still retaining that same feeling that made them fans in the first place.

> Reach doesn’t even have actual firefight in MM anymore.

Yeah…I kinda wish they’d improve on what we have now instead of trying to change it into something else. FF in ODST was really fun. I hope in Halo 4 they expound on that more.

While I wouldn’t mind an economy system being added to Firefight (it did wonders for Horde), FF should never be like -Yoink!- Zombies. I’ve give it so many chances and just find it boring and unengaging. Firefight is unique among survival modes, with increasingly difficult waves and (at least in ODST) sets that have their own unique twists. Reach did take a few steps in the wrong direction, but Firefight was still unique in how it played, and should continue to do so.

Finally, if any sort of economy system is added, there needs to be an option to turn it off. I love economy systems, but now and then, I like classic Firefight.

> This isn’t COD it is Halo.

Yeah but they want Halo to be more like CoD so…

I say yes but also keep classic like all halo reach ff modes

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a waste of time.

I can see what you’re getting at, you want more features in Firefight but it doesn’t have to be -Yoink!- Zombies. If you like that game type and would like to see it in Halo 4 then a Flood type variant would be your best bet. A lot of people have been asking for Flood in Firefight since ODST, I would’t be surprised if they finally add it and then you may gave your options to customise your experience in more of a ‘escape’ survival. I’m not totally shooting down your idea, I would like for a balanced and well thought at Firefight game type to be available, as well as traditional Firefight.

Halo’s survival game mode, “Firefight” offers more of a defend and standoff experience. Not only are the maps built around this objective but the enemies are too. Zombies don’t have guns which means maps are built around close corners, short spaces and generally a small map. If you wanted a similar game type in Firefight there would have to be specifically and uniquely designed maps for this that wouldn’t work for the traditional Firefight type.

I’m not saying it can’t or shouldn’t be done but it does require a different set of values than traditional Firefight initially built.

The guy who invented -Yoink!- Zombies is now working for 343. He is the lead campaign designer, I believe.

Edit: Here ya go

Well pointed out.

To be honest though I really don’t know how much his previous creations influences Halo. If he’s desiging campaign levels then he’s obviously been given a plot and structure to follow, not the freedom to design his own game mode. I would assume the Creative Director etc decides what sort of foundational features and modes go into the game and designers just literally make it.

However, if the same people design Firefight and are allowed to express their own creativity then he may have some sort of influence on Firefight. Again, if the concept of Flood and more of ‘escape’ game variant is added, it would be very interesting if/how he contributes to it.

Obviously you never played Firefight in ODST. That was hard! Limited ammo and enemies who hate your guts.

I play it more than Reach. Those two things along with map design are what made Firefight.
