Firefight made me better at matchmaking

The title says it all. While I was playing swat today for the first time in 7 or 8 months, the last time it was because there was a 200 small arms kills weekly and that was my first time. I got annihilated during the first few days I played it and never went back. Today I resolved to give it another try, and on my first game I easily came out with a posative k/d.

Thinking about it I realized Skirmageddon in firefight seems to be a lot like swat solely because in skirmageddon I generally keep the reticule at head height and easily take out the covenant. In matchmaking you are generally as tall as skirmishers so doing the same worked in my favour. Granted SWAT is like Skirmageddon with no shields and deadly accurate enemies, but it felt so familiar while I was playing it. Just thought I’d let this out. It isn’t often that something as easy as firefight actually helps me in multiplayer matchmaking.

you know what really makes you good a firefight. all heretics on legendary with mythic on that really makes you think of strategics

Firefight really helps your battlefield awareness, seeing as you have to keep track of a much larger amount of enemies. It also gives you a sixth sense of where enemies are and when power weapons are being fired at you. Alas that many people who think MM is all that matters don’t see the value of this.

If your sound system/headphones are worth a lick, it’ll also teach you how to listen. “That near miss came from my left and a little back. Duck and peek around the corner, and…{pow} OK - who’s next?”

I can’t stand when my teammates keep sprinting near me when I am playing SWAT. I am duck-walking for a reason! I want to hear the enemy!

I’m too old to out-twitch you, but I have a sweet surround-sound system that’ll tell me where you are before you can see me.
